Hyperthyroidism in pregnancy, anyone any experience or words of wisdom?

Had a GTT 2 weeks ago ( am 30 weeks now) and as I have Crohns my gastroenterologist asked for a number of other blood tests to be done at the same time. All came back fine except showed up as marginally hyperthyroid. I have an appt at the endocrine clinic in the morning but I'm worried. Anyone out there had this and should I be worried?

I am hyperthyroid and I have Graves Disease, I've had it a few years now but not had final treatment because we wanted to start a family. I was taking PTU (I couldn't tell you the long version!) as that doesn't cross the placenta. My dosage was decreased and about 6 weeks ago I stopped taking it all together and am at normal levels now - apparently this is common during pregnancy. I will need another blood test 6 weeks after our baby is here as it may come back.

I see an endocrinologist in antenatal every 6 weeks or so with bloods before. I'm booked in for growth scans and had one last week - the baby is fine ("chunky" my consultant said). I will have to give birth in the labour ward as the paediatrician will need to test the baby to check it's thyroid levels. Oh and my antibodies came back negative so it's a very slim chance the baby has inherited my thyroid problems.

It's actually been relatively stress free and my consultant says my pregnancy is going well she's very pleased so far. I am 28+4.

I have hypothyroidism. My primary care recommended I see an Endocrinologist. It helped so much, they are able to better manage your levels. Don't be worried

I'm hypothyroid and see the endocrine team. As long as they take your blood regularly and keep an eye on you you'll be fine. I don't know what the policy is for hyper as opposed to hypo but it's probably similar.

Thanks so much for the replies. It turns out that I am hypo (odd that the midwife who rang me about it said hyper but perhaps I misheard) so I am on Eltroxin until the birth then they said to stop taking it and have my bloods checked at the 6 week check up. The endocrinologist didn't seem remotely bothered about it so I have decided not to be either! She said itv would probably just go back to normal....... Thank you again, x
