pregnant or faulty test?

my husband works out west and comes home every 3 weeks. he was here from july 14-21. because my last period was june 29th, i thought there was no chance of getting pregnant. i assumed we missed any chance. we "danced" (lol) on the 15th, 18th and 20th. while cleaning last night i found a clearblue pregnancy test and took it for the sake of taking it. it was negative. i giggled and thought
"oh well". well, a few mins later (5), i went to take another look and the positive line was soooooo faint. there was a blue smudge at the top and bottom too. but the line was so faint that i had to go outside this morning to look again because i tested last night. it's barely there. i went back to the calendar to look at my last three periods. i'm a 35 days not 28 like i always thought. i always marked down when i got my period but never bothered to count. so with my fertile days being july 17-22, period isn't due till august 3 but the blue smudges has be wondering. could be it a positive test or just a faulty test? i took the test a week early

Faulty tests are unlikely, get yourself another test sand POAS again to put your mind at rest

Does "danced" mean Shagging With Intent?

I think you need to get a new test kit, and test when due or just after (assuming non-appearance of AF).

I'm usually 35 days, but in June was 28 so ovulated on day 14 instead of my usual day 21 ovulating. We were trying to conceive though and we're glad we caught it with a fertility monitor.

What I'm trying to say is, even if your cycle is 'always' 35 days, there's an odd occasion it might not be!

Get another test..

CurlyhairedAssassin · 27/07/2014 22:49

I would have thought it very likely you were fertile at the times you did the deed, looking at those dates. There's a chance the line was faint because it's early days. Wait till tomorrow and do another test with your morning wee.

patticakes · 27/07/2014 23:02

thanks for all the fast responses. there is a line, but it gets darker near the top and bottom. we weren't trying for another one really. but if i am pregnant i'll be happy. i think i'll just wait till my period is due. i only took this one for the sake of using it up lol

you all are awesome!

Good luck :)

I have had false positives with blue-dye tests before - I checked it after the time limit and there was a definite cross but I was definitely not pregnant. I think they have a tendency for the dye to bleed sometimes. I hope you get the result you want when you retest, but I'd say get a pink dye test!

houghtonk76 · 28/07/2014 12:40

Retest just after period due - I tested day after mine due (have period tracker app). Was 3-4 weeks pregnant (now 5 weeks). FX for you either way!

patticakes · 02/08/2014 13:34

Hi everyone. well, my period was due today and i still got nothing. i did have scanty spotting 4 days ago. the first day it was pink and only when i wiped. not enough to wear a liner. the next day it was scanty and brown. i thought for sure my period is coming. if i am pregnant, i'll be happy. if not, i'm still ok since it wasn't really planned. i guess my husband was in town at the right moment Smile either way i just want to know at this point. i guess i'll buy a test today and see what happens. i'm starting to believe that clearblue test was accurate??

I had a similar start to this (now 34 week) pregnancy. Tested, very faint/inconclusive. Then some spotting/bleeding so I thought 'oh well not this month' ... which came to nothing so I tested again (probs 4 or 5 days later than the 1st) and got a more obvious line.

:) Good luck OP!

loudarts · 02/08/2014 14:03

The test could have gone past its use by date if it was an old one, but good luck. Hope you get the answer you want.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 02/08/2014 14:22

Good luck for poas!

SweepTheHalls · 02/08/2014 14:26

Hope you get your BFP

patticakes · 02/08/2014 15:55

the test i took last week wasn't set to expire till 2015. i just came home from grocery shopping and stopped at dollarama. i am pregnant! the clearblue test did it's job! it was faint but there and i doubted it. i got a pink dye test and i see a clear line. this wasn't planned but i am happy and excited! thank you all for your answers. you all are amazing and i thank each and every one of your answers! baby #4 is on his or her way God willing!

thanks everyone! clearblue did work for me even though i saw smudges it was there. the dollar store one i took the day after clearblue was negative until today. and it was pink dye, not blue like the clearblue one. what i did was save this morning's urine and took two dollar store tests. i tested first with late morning urine and the line was almost not there. very faint. when i tested with the morning urine i saved, it was very dark. so i guess the dollar store tests do work but it's not as sensitive as detecting pregnancy before a missed period like clearblue although CB did confuse me with a line almost none existent with some smudges. with that being said, morning urine works best...in my case.
