Im dreading Monday went back to work yesterday after three weeks sick. Still not feeling 100% to be told that the shifts are changing to 10.5 hours from 8.
I barely coped on Friday with the 8 dreading how I will with these long shifts xx

I think you can ask for graduated return to work, not 100% sure but worth asking.

Hi natharley, not sure if it will help but the working time directive states that you need to have eleven consecutive hours rest in any 24 hour period, and from what you've said it sounds like your employer might be in breach of this. It is possible that you've agreed to opt out contractually (check your statement of particulars) but if not, they are breaching the WTD by having you finish so late to then start again so early. Obviously it's better to try and speak to your employer before going in all guns blazing but it helps that the law is in your side if you need it.
