first health visitor before baby born

I have my first visit with the health visitor on Tuesday before bubs is born. I will be 37w. What can I expect from it?

Just for her to get to know you and tell you how often she will visit etc she will give you lots of leaflets talk to you about sids risks and give advice on feeding things like that. I spent the whole morning blitzing the house thinking she would be inspecting which she didn't my hv is lovely some arent as nice shame mine is retiring next week she is absolutely steeped in knowledge and has been a real help whenever she has visited.

Mine just introduced herself and gave me some fairly pointless leaflets, all of which I had been given before. Total waste of time. I think it is about checking you are ok, that you have a safe environment for the baby, and are not in bits about the birth and in need of support as much as anything else.

As the others have said...leaflets and general chit chat. My postnatal appointments are just as pointless too

Mine was same as dss so it was fairly pointless she was here for hr and half teaching me to suck eggs, mine is very quick to jump to conclusions she wentg through family history health etc, I told her about mental health issues in family immediatly yellow booked! She was very interested after this but pretty pointless she gave my dcs red book to take in with me which was weord
