I take my pill regularly everyday, though I do often have diarrhoea due to my IBS.

I haven't yet missed my period (it's due in 4 days)(and isn't a pill period a 'fake' period? ) but I have a multitude of symptoms that come and go.

-ache boobs
-enlarge aeriola with a dark ring around
-fatigue
-nausea
-Dizzy
-shakes
-heartburn
-swollen and hard abdomen

Reckon I am?

I will take a test in about 4-5 days.
I'm so worried

Thanks

It's obviously really hard to tell without a test. Could you possibly do an early response test that you can use 4 days prior to your period?

Do you normally get any of those symptoms with your period? A lot of them might be due to the diarrhoea (obviously not the achy boobs or darker aeriola!) but it could be that your body is just in a bit of flux and is all over the place.

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 14:47

Hi, no I've never had any of these symptoms before
I'm usually one of those sorts that never gets sick, I've never really had pmt, and have the most un-sensitive boobs ever.

And I don't have diarrhea anymore

Another symptom I left out before is increased need to pee

Take a test! :)

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 14:59

I've read on forums that the early tests don't work well, and are also expensive

OP posts:
weeblueberry · 24/07/2014 15:07

It's true they're not cheap. I got the digital ones from ClearBlue and it was £14 for two....

But it was more definite than the PH stick type one I did first of all.

dilys4trevor · 24/07/2014 15:07

Pretty unlikely if you take your pill without fail (even with the occasional shits), and isn't it quite unusual to have all those symptoms less than 2 weeks after conception (which is about what it would be)?

Heartburn you wouldn't get at this time if it were pregnancy and the shakes don't sound like a typical pregnancy symptom. Ditto swollen abdomen (less than two weeks after conception).

You are probably just a bit ill! Even people who 'never' get ill, get ill sometimes. You sound like you're panicking yourself into it based on what you have heard are pregnancy symptoms. An early test 4 days out is usually only about 50% accurate so agree not to bother today.

Sit it out.

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 15:13

Aren't pill periods 'fake periods'? And just a withdrawal bleed from stopping the pill for 7 days? Therefore couldn't you technically be pregnant and still have a bleed?

Only asking as I have no idea how all this works?

OP posts:
SweetsForMySweet · 24/07/2014 15:16

It is possible. If you are doing a hpt, try first response or clearblue digi because they can detect earlier than when you're period is due (but more accurate from the day your period is due). Were you using condoms with the pill, if so it is less likely but not impossible that you are pregnant. First morning sample is best because it is more concentrate

dilys4trevor · 24/07/2014 15:16

I'd Google that as I'm not sure.

I just don't think the symptoms sound right.

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 15:19

No we never use condoms.

I've Googled it, and it's true. When you are on the pill the 'period' you have isn't menstrual, it is a withdrawal bleed that can continue through pregnancy if you still are taking the pill

OP posts:
joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 15:22

My main issue is that the pill is 99% effective. That's 1 in 100 people gets pregnant while on the pill. That could be at least 1 person everyday in the uk

OP posts:
dilys4trevor · 24/07/2014 15:26

Not sure anyone can help you really.

You'll need to take a test in a couple of days. Anything else is useless speculation.

SeaSaltMill · 24/07/2014 15:29

I would take an early response test now, simply because if you are pregnant, staying on the pill will be dangerous.

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 15:33

I'm due my 7 day break as of tomorrow so tonight's will be the last pill x

OP posts:
SweetsForMySweet · 24/07/2014 15:46

The pill is 99% effective IF taken correctly and nothing counteracts it, if you have experienced diarrhoea/upset tummy regularly, that can counteract the pill from working. If you are pregnant you will need to start taking a (400mg per day)folic acid supplement asap and make an appointment with your gp to confirm your pregnancy so they can book you in for a scan. If you suspect you are pregnant you should stop taking the pill and use other methods of protection until it is confirmed eitherway whether you are pregnant or not. If you are very worried, don't put yourself through 4 more days of waiting, take an early detector test. If it is positive, you and your boyfriend can decide what to do then, in the meantime, try to relax because stress will only make your ibs worse.

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 16:05

Thank you. Maybe I will fork out and buy an early test.
Any recommendations on which is best?

OP posts:
GailLondon · 24/07/2014 16:21

The brand First Response -Early result are definitely the best for early testing.
Good luck x

WhatsGoingOnEh · 24/07/2014 16:26

I don't think you need a special, £££ "early" test. Most modern pregnancy tests can detect raised levels of HGC (if I remember those initials correctly) from about 7 days before your period is due. With both my pregnancies, I tested early with any old test (including one from the 99p Shop) and got positives both times.

My most reliable early symptom and this is TMI!!! was increased lady-garden moisture. Anything else came later on.

joeypoey123 · 24/07/2014 17:59

There weren't any early tests in the store, so I bought a normal test and will try tomorrow morning
I figured if I already have symptoms I must be further on than one cycle.

I also have more moisture too.

Did you take the test?
