So poor DS has a horrible tummy bug and has spent the best part of last night, yesterday and the night before on the toilet :( on Tuesday I was told by midwife at hospital that she can feel babies head on my cervix and that baby was 3/5 engaged. She then informed me to rest and if I get an pain to lie down for a couple of hours or I could be delivering early. Am currently 34+1. Basically I am now stressing out that I will catch this bug and end up in labour. I appreciate this is a leap but last time round I got signed off sick with a tummy bug at about 35/36 weeks for fear it would send me in to labour! Am I being totally unreasonable or is this a possibility?!?!

Poor you. I suppose it is a possibility, but I do think.our immune systems might be stronger than.we think.in pregnancy. My dp had an awful stomach bug when I was 38 weeks. I was so stressed I would catch it, or go into labour while he was sick, but neither happened. Try to rest, get help if you can and above all disinfectant EVERYTHING! Spray doorhandles, toilet flushed etc with anti-bac spray, and wash your hands (and your toddler's really well). Hope you stay well, and he gets better soon.

Oh, and in a normal healthy pregnancy a tummy bug won't send you into labour. So, unless you are high-risk for some reason I wouldn't be worrying about that aspect of things.
