Genital herpes?

hi was just wondering if any one knew if it was safe to take acyclovir 400mg 5 times a day while pregnant. I have had herpes way before I got pregnant but now at 38 weeks I am experiencing an outbreak. I went to doctors yesterday who prescribed me cream as she didn't want to risk me taking these antivirals, but today had midwife and she checked with another doctor and said the cream would not work and that I need to take acyclovir 400mg 5 times a day but now am in two minds weather to take them but a bit worried not to as so close to my due date was just wondering has any one else taken these while pregnant and was everything ok???? thanks in advance!!!

Checked with my bro who is a pharmacist ok after 20 weeks taken as a pre caution from 36 weeks if a vaginal birth is way of delivery

hi thank you for your reply its just that iv had an outbreak and a bit wary of takin medication but cause im due in 2 weeks a bit worried not to take them so taking 5 a day at 400mg for next 5 days is ok??? only one doc told me yesterday I could only use cream but my midwife and another doctor has told me to take these acyclovir and is safe but reading up on google the strength I have people are only taking 2-3 a day but iiv been told to take 5 a day for next 5 days.. thank you for your help x

Hiii this is what im worried about im 38 weeks preg and docs prescrbed me 400mg 5 times a day for 5 days so do i take 5 a day at that dosage or knock it down to 3 a day really not sure what to dooo for the best.

can you call your gp or pharmacy reg the dosing, maybe take the fact sheet to the chemist for advice?
