Wishaw or Princess Royal Hospitals - best for giving birth?

Hi! First post and would really appreciate any advice. I am 24 wks with my first baby and will be moving from Glasgow to Hamilton, South Lanarkshire in 3 wks. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on whether I should try to stay at my current hospital (Princess Royal in Glasgow) for the birth or move to the closer Wishaw hospital? Any thoughts/experiences you can share would be most appreciated!

No experience of princess royal buty sister gave birth at Wishaw for her 2nd and the midwife didnt believe she was in labour until she vomited when given painkillers (she was still in jeans in waiting room at this point), 20 mins later he was born. This may be a one off but personally if it were me and I had the option I wouldn't give birth there

I had both of mine in Wishaw General Hospital with no issues.

Thanks guys. Sorry your sister had that experience nc060 and glad you had a positive experience both times ilovepowerhoop. I've read good and bad experiences for both so I guess it's down to the midwife you get at the time?

I found the staff in wishaw were lovely but it's overcrowded, understaffed and very dirty

Wow I would have thought with Wishaw being a new hospital that it would be clean! I've heard that the Royal is understaffed and overcrowded but haven't heard of it being dirty. I'm really not sure what I should do

I dont remember it being dirty . Its not that new, its been open for 13 years.
