Any recommendations for good ones for newborn?

eye-wateringly expensive for what it is, but I had a fisher-price one first, and I can honestly say the babybjörn one is worth the price difference. It feels so much more sturdy (and is also much nicer-looking), and Dd quickly figured out how to balance herself by kicking her feet.

found a cheap one on my local gumtree page, otherwise I probably never would have tried it!

I like fisher price one with bells and whistles as it keeps ds2 (& formerly ds1) entertained whilst I'm cooking. A basic one with a bar of toys would do same job. Don't overthink it. It's just a bouncer. They're worth it as a place to put baby and to keep them entertained.

Ds2 probably just as happy in the mothercare basic one I got as a spare to use upstairs or take to gps.

I don't understand recommendations for baby bjorn but each to their own, as long as you can clip toys to it and they can eventually bounce themselves.

Another vote for the baby bjorn. We bought a vibrating one from mamas and papas and DD wouldn't sit in it for every long. We then got lent a baby bjorn and DD loved it! We had to give it back but will definitely be investing one if we have a DC2.

Can't beat a baby bjorn.
My son is now 2 1/2 and still has his daytime naps in it (2 hr nap vs 45 minute nap he'd get if he were in his cot!)
They soon learn to bounce it themselves, so no need to worry about batteries.
He always looks extremely snug in it.
It folds down flat, so its easy to take out with us if need be.
