I am approx 5-6wks pregnant, unsure exactly how far along as got my BFP after a miscarriage and before my first period. Obviously I am very pleased and hope this one sticks around.

With my last pregnancy the advice at the time was that light drinking occasionally was OK (1/2 units) to be honest I hardly drank but had the odd 1/2 a shandy on a sunny hot day in the 2nd / 3rd trimester.

This time around I am aware the advice has now changed to no alcohol in the 1st trimester. I will attempt to completely avoid alcohol but would like some tips on alternatives / low alcohol options should I fancy a 'fake tipple' of sorts.

Last time around all that I found was Becks non alcohol lager mixed with lemonade which was sort of OK.. or just plain old tonic water.is there anything better out there yet?? I just can't stand sweet, sugary drinks..

Another vote for Bavaria here - they do a lovely radler and also the red fruits is delicious.

I've had a scheiner weisse non-alcoholic beer in the pub which was great, not seen it in the shops, tho.

Posh tonic waters are good with lots of ice and lime / cucumber.

Ooooh what fantastic suggestions, I knew there was something better than Appletizer which is pretty much all I drank alongside water last time around. Will get some on the shopping order for next week. Thanks ladies!

Non alcoholic pear koppolberg (?) is really nice, gotten me through a few bbqs so far!
I recently had the fosters radlers 2% ( didn't know there was a 0%) but didn't feel too guilty adding two of those into the BBQ mix along with the koppolberg over several hours. Was surprising nice also. Becks blue is dogs arse juice personally.
If a restaurant does them virgin strawberry daquari is nice, and if all else fails and the pub has non of the above, fruit juice and lemonade :) Apple is my fav.

Congrats on your oregnancy hope all progresses well x

I brought some sparking grape juice from asdas special best whatever they call it range, it was packaged like wine. It was horrific!

Waitrose and Sainsbury's both make very low alcohol cider - less than 1% - they're really good when very cold.
Sainsbury's Czech pilsner 0.5% is the best low alcohol beer I have tried.
A few drops of angostura and a squeeze of lime in tonic water is very low alcohol
Monin make a juniper flavour syrup which you can mix with tonic - for a g&t type drink.
If you live near an Italian deli they might sell Sansbitter - a non-alcoholic Campari type drink
Orange juice with bitter lemon - a st clements - the bitterness cuts through the sweet juice

Agree with juneavrile the Waitrose low alcohol cider has been a life saver for me, it's just as nice as Bulmers and doesn't taste alcopoppy or too sweet. Not alcohol free but I'm not going to beat myself up over a couple of 1% ciders every other week.

I also love elderflower cordial with fizzy water and loads of fresh squeeze lime.

I've had a raging thirst since BFP!

Elderflower cordial and tonic is lovely.

jug of water, still or sparkley, poured onto a sliced lemon, half a sliced cucumber and mint leaves, chill in fridge, tastes lovely and no chemicals, would work with other combinations as well :-)
