38 + 3 with my first. All of the sudden everything that has felt so far off and almost abstract is right here. Losing sleep over the birth and taking care of a newborn. I know this is compounded by the fact that we're living abroad and away from family... But really starting to freak out a bit. I'm REALLY ready to not be pregnant anymore, but I don't know if I'm ready to be a mom quite yet!!! Any other first timers getting nervous?

Yes! I feel like I'm starting to get my head around pregnancy but yesterday (35wks) I suddenly realised I could really have a baby any day now. Panic ensued. I'm not ready...!
Hoping the next few weeks of maternity leave might help me get my head around it a bit...

I remember this feeling, only started feeling really when I was at the pushing stage of labour and the midwife said 'oh she's got lots of dark hair'! I was like omg it's an actual person, you can't comprehend how life changing it will be but it's the best thing you'll ever do.

Yep, I'm 36 wks and don't think I've quite comprehended how life is going to change in a few weeks. On mat leave and a bit bored, all my friends work and as they don't have kids, they're just going about their normal lives and I'm already starting to worry that we'll drift once baby is here. Feel like there's stuff I should be 'making the most of' before baby arrives but for me that would be spending the next few weeks on an exotic island drinking piña coladas.....which ain't going to happen!
