worried after dating scan

Hi I went for a dating scan yesterday expecting to be 8-9 weeks however I was told I was only 7+2. I had worked out 8-9wks from my last period and also when I did the pregnancy test 4wks ago it was a clear blue digital that said I'd conceived 2-3 weeks previous making me 4-5wks at that point. I'm really confused now as I'm sure the conception would make me 8-9wk too. Should I be worried that the baby isn't developing properly? I had a mmc last year so I'm very anxious this time. There was a very strong heartbeat and the sonographer was very reassuring that the baby was in the right place high in the uterus and the yolk sac looked healthy but I'm sure the baby shouldve measured bigger. Please help!

Hi, I had a reassurance scan, where I measured 8 weeks and I made it to be 9+. I went with it and went back for my dating scan, which they booked according to the 8 weeks scan so I would be 12+3. At that scan I was 13+6!
The sonographer told me that the most accurate time to measure is 11-14 weeks and that's why they do the dating scan then, so don't panic - your date may be brought forward at your dating scan! xx

Thanks. I booked in for the early scan to put my mind at rest after the mmc but all its done is make me worry more now

Yes, it could be because your baby is so tiny at the moment, it's difficult to take accurate measurements. Try not to worry yourself, the strong heartbeat was a very positive sign :) congratulations

I had a scan at 6 weeks and was put back almost a week, I then had one at 9 weeks and tey moved me a couple of days forward and then at my 12 week scan they put me ahead of what I thought I was Grin

They said it's very difficult to get an accurate date until at least 12 weeks Smile

I got told there is a margin of error of +/- 5 days when I had a scan at 7 weeks.

So, i.e you are 7+2 but they are out by 5 days, making you really 7+7... Or 8 weeks as you thought!

So might all add up?

Did they offer for you to come back in a week's time to check there has been growth and everything's still ok? Or will you just have to wait now til the 12 wk scan?
I have to be honest and say that I was in a similar situation and it didn't end well for me. I really don't want to cause you unnecessary worry but I'm sure if you've done any googling like I did then you'll see that of the people who have written about finding themselves in this position for lots it worked out absolutely fine (early scans can be inaccurate as can the conception indicator thing on the test) but for some it didn't work out.
I have to say though that a heartbeat at 7 weeks is a good sign - for my mmc development stopped at 6w.
When I had my private scan and she dated 6w1d but everything looking fine (and I was expecting 7w at least), she offered for me to come back for a rescan a week later within the initial fee. If you haven't been offered this might be worth asking and explaining you we're sure of your dates as otherwise you might find it hard waiting til the 12 week one.
I know its so hard but do please try not to worry too much.
