Does anybody have an tips for this 33 weeks pregnant mama on dealing with hit weather?

I just read it might get to 30c in my area on Thurs/Fri and I nearly cried. Stuffy days and miserable long, hot nights are getting the better of me. And to top it off, my HG is 3x worse when I'm hot and tired, so I puke all day too!

Help!

I'm 27 weeks and not feeling it too badly yet (work in an air-conditioned office) and spend as little time as possible outside during 11-5pm but have been loving my evening bath - I don't make it too hot and make sure I put the fan on in my bedroom before I get in.
Afterwards I stand in front and dry off, put bio oil on, and go to bed naked with just a sheet. It's a nice routine and very relaxing.

I've also been trying to get the tube a bit earlier in the morning but unfortunately by 5pm it's boiling so just have to grit teeth and get on with it.

I've made the executive decision that my household will be switching to the 'continental day' mode ie do nothing after 2pm (except sleep/TV) until at least 7/8pm. Cook when it's dark. Go to bed late when it's cooled down. Luckily I don't have any other children, and have finished work now.

Have developed an obsession with ice pops, those long thin lollies you freeze at home. A box of 20 for £1 in Tesco. I eat about 10 a day to cool me down!

I have a 2 week old and was suffering enough back in June so feel very bad for you all now its even hotter.

I filled a hot water bottle 2/3rds full of water squeezed the air out of it, pop it in the freezer and voila at night you have a massive ice block for your bed. I would put it in a pillow case and it would feel so nice on my swollen feet plus it makes the sheet all nice and cool as well.

35 weeks here, ML starts next Thursday and it can't come soon enough. My elephant ankles have had enough now!
We bought a fan with a remote control, it's the best thing we've ever bought Smile

I am 31 weeks and constantly look like a beetroot that has been left at the back of the fridge and gone sweaty. Ahhhhhhhhh, I am a hot person at the best of times let alone now!!!!

Open the hatch to the loft. It makes a massive difference.

We've got a big ceiling fan, fugly as hell but so effective. I'm not even pg and I'm hot without the fan on.

I sat on balcony, under parasol, with feet in bucket of cold or icy water, an ice pack down top, whilst sucking fruit ice lollies during hot spell when was 40+5. Worked a treat.

Must be diff if you're commuting. How about those cooling sprays? Do Boots still sell them? V cold cans of pop? One to drink, one to press on bump?

I'm think I might buy a paddling pool this weekend even though I don't have any children yet!
Seriously considering sleeping in the garden too - what a great idea! Might dig out our tent! ha ha! neighbours will have a good laugh.

I'm totally melting. Had midwife appointment yesterday at 10.30am and on the way home thought I was going to faint! Not sure I am going to cope in the coming days - I am sat here with my feet in a gardening trug full of water and a massive glass of icy water. I think I could cope if it wasn't for the commute into London, the train is like a flipping sauna!

We have squirrels in our loft so I am DEFINITELY not leaving that hatch open!

Get some magicool and spray directly into your feet. Cools your whole body down instantly.

Can I just express my utter hatred for support tights! I have a family history of pregnancy triggering varicose veins so, having got a bit puffy these last few days, I've finally got out the support tights - feels like having my legs encased in sweaty concrete tubes! 6 weeks until due date....

I have so much sympathy for you all. I managed to be pregnant over the winter and was still roasting and struggling to sleep! I found that this really helped:
www.boots.com/en/Cussons-Mum-Me-Bump-Cool-and-Relieve-Soothing-Spray-1-x-150ml_1264247/

I used to douse myself in it when I woke up a sweaty mess at 3am. It smells lovely and minty!

And please, those of you on the tube ask for a seat if no-one spots you. It is horrible on there at the moment.

Hey I live in dubai when I was pregnant it was very hot. Its really difficult to keep cool. I drank my weight in water and ate alot of ice lollies. In my house. Haha

you need to get a standing fan if there's no aircon. Id have cried with no aircon during the night.

Goodluck

oh can i join in? i am 32wks and have a 22mo who co-sleeps on me and a DH who snores like a foghorn. we are in a tiny flat which has 3 sides of glass walls with patio doors, which don't have any windows, so th e only ventilation is opening the doors but then the toddler tries to leap over the balcony. We can't open them at night as it is right on the street at ground level and the bedroom is at the front. So we are living in a greenhouse essentially. i don't go out much with ds as i live in the hillyest place on earth and just cant push 34lb ds uphill anymore. i last left the house on Tuesday for toddler group and will go to one in the morning tomo - but that'll probably finish me off - it's uphill all the way. But poor ds is going stir crazy and we are sick of dvds. i'm a crappy mum. :(

I really want to open the loft hatch but I have this bizarre fear of doing it and I can't sleep with it open, I can see it from my bed and it freaks me out, I don't know why! A vague fear of something coming out of it, or just that the ladders will fall down and freak me out. I usually just have a damp towel by the bed for cooling purposes, also I am a big believer in popping in the shower any time of day for a quick blast of cold water. Just whip off clothes, have a few minutes under and I feel cooler for ages. Granted this is not an option if still working, but it's great during the night! Makes a lot of difference just feeling like you've got the sweat off.

Stick your feet in a washing up bowl of cold water - it's heaven!
