20 week scan - sex - how easy is it to see?

Hi,

We had our 20 week scan nearly 10 weeks ago now. We didn't find out the sex, but I asked the sonographers if they knew, and they were a bit reticent, but said yes they did!

Now I've got it into my head that it's a boy as I think it would be more obvious and easy to identify in passing than a girl. Is this right? On the other hand, they scanned right through the abdomen and down to the feet (we even saw little foot prints, which were very sweet!), so I'm hoping that they may have spotted it's a girl in passing as easily as a boy.

Just to clarify - I don't mind at all either way, I just really want a surprise!

Hx

I could tell from dd2's scan she was indeed a girl.

I think that if the baby is in the right position it's pretty easy for them to tell either way. I don't think it's more obvious if it's a boy, because they can just as easily tell if it's a girl, if you know what I mean? We found out the sex at the 20 week scan, it was a girl and the sonographer pointed out the fairly distinctive three lines that indicates that it's a girl. They do hundreds of scans every week and know exactly that they are looking for, either way.

We told the lady we didn't want to know, so she kept gliding over the groinal region. DH kept looking away when she went near, but I kept looking out of awe not at all because I secretly wanted to find out and hoped I'd see a massive willy or something obvious anyway I didn't see anything.
I keep thinking it must be a girl, otherwise I'd have seen something? But it keeps kicking me like a proper mule and was properly standing on its head for one scan, stupidity like that must mean it's a boy and perhaps I just missed his ding-a-ling?!
