Vitamin K supplement for OC

I've just been started on a 10mg Vitamin K supplement and I'm 32 weeks pregnant. The only thing is, the supplement makes me feel really nauseous - is this normal?

Did a google on it (first mistake!) and found it mentioned that they weren't recommended in pregnancy due to increased risk of jaundice in the baby?! Now, I'm fairly certain that the risk of blood clotting problems if I don't take it outweighs that, but can't find any more information about the jaundice research - what percentage increase in risk am I letting myself in for here? Ds was jaundiced when he was a baby, and I would prefer not to go through that again on the whole.

Were you recommended it by GP or MW?
If so, I guess they should know the risks.
Sorry, not much help!!

Not sure on this one Georgina. I was on Vit K last time, and dd was slightly jaundiced - didn't connect the 2 though, and I didn't have any nausea last time. (I am being very sick now though, and it can be a "normal" side effect of the cholestasis)
If they are giving you the Vit K because you are deficient in it then you are only raising your levels to normal - so I shouldn't think it will have any adverse effect at all.

Supplements often make you feel sick if taken on an empty stomach. Try taking them with your biggest meal of the day.

Thank you for the replies

The impression I got was that they were giving me the supplement at 32 weeks onwards "just in case" rather than they actually know I'm deficient in it - could be wrong there though. If it's only a small risk of slight jaundice I'm not too worried as obviously the benefits far outweigh the risks!

Good idea about biggest meal of the day, aloha - am currently taking it after breakfast - I think I'll try and move it to the evening meal, set myself an alarm or something to remember to take it!
