Hello Ladies
Just looking to see if anyone has delivered without their partner - I mean when he wasn't in the country or area. Unfortunately my DH will be working abroad and cannot be there for the birth due to contractual issues so from 7 months I will be on my own (with my Mum etc). I am starting to feel very emotional about this! What advice do you have for keeping him involved and getting through this time?

No experience of this but would it be possible to video the birth? Or use skype/facetime?

I did quite a bit of labour with just the midwife. I know that doesn't cover everything but it was a significant portion, and it was fine - it was actally better and calmer than when DP was there.

You haven't said why your DH will be away, but have you thought about posting on the Forces Wives thread? I imagine there will be people there who will have some experiences that could help.

My DP was away in afghan for the birth of our DS, it was fine as I had my sister and mum with me. I took lots of photos and luckily he managed to phone me whilst I was still in hospital.
