Think it's a boy, but could I be wrong?

Had my 20 week scan today. I told the sonographer I didn't want to know the sex - I'm not particularly bothered about knowing or not knowing, but DP is keen not to know so that's what we're going with.

Anyway, she warned me when I might want to look away, and probably foolishly I didn't, and saw what looked very much like a boy's bits. My question is, is there something else in there it could have been? Has anyone else been convinced they saw a boy and it turned out not to be?

Even sonographers are rarely 100% certain.

Could be the umbilical cord or a well positioned limb.

I'm 38 weeks and have been pretty convinced since I saw my 20 week scan that it is a boy. I will be very surprised if A girl comes out. On the other hand I keep telling myself I am not an expert and I only caught a glimpse so you never know!

I was convinced I was having a boy, but at our 20 week scan we found out its a girl. The sonographer was very thorough, and showed us 3 lines which she said, along with no visible boy bits at all meant a girl. They can't be 100% sure but I was convinced.

My friend was totally convinced with both her daughters that she had seen boy bits on the scans

Of course you could be wrong.

I thought I saw boy bits, but I have no idea how sonographers make sense of the fuzzy pictures. I was wrong.

Both DH and I were convinced with my last pregnancy that it was a boy. The sonographer had frozen a pic of the baby from underneath looking up at it's bottom with its legs wide open (iyswim?) We both saw the meat and 2 veg.
The surgeon doing my C-section said before she started that she had only ever delivered girls. DH and I both looked at each other as if to say 'this will be your first boy'.
When the baby was delivered and they said congratulations it's a girl, I turned to the anaesthetist and asked him to make sure they had got it right.
Whatever DH and I saw was most definitely 'meat and 2 veg'. More like the umbilical cord and swollen labia!!!

I made the sonographer do me a pic of my boy's bits. They're DEFINITELY boy's bits. Or so I thought until I read this thread... Confused Confused Confused
