It depends as everyone is different.
It can be a sign of doing too much but also can be that some placenta is still left.

Try having a day of not doing much and see if that helps.

I bled for 10 weeks with a medium flow and it was red for 9 weeks of that!

If you are still worried call your midwife or health visitor.

I stopped bleeding after about 10 days, then started my period 3 days later. Any chance it could be your period?

If your concerned ask your health visitor or see a gp xx

Yeah if it's bright red it could be a period. That said I bled for six weeks with both of mine. I wouldn't say it's anything to worry about though unless it smells awful or you're in pain etc

Hi I had a cesearean and was told to expect to bleed for about 2 weeks over 3 weeks later im still bleeding and its gone back to bright red tmi but when i wipe its thick and stringy, I rang the post natal ward last night and they said anything up to 4 to 6 weeks is normal as long as it isnt running down my legs heavy and not smelly but to make an appointment with my gp to check I haemorrhaged after my section so i was worried something wasnt right but they didnt seem concerned.

HopefulHamster · 14/07/2014 15:40

I bled for about 6-8 weeks (have slightly forgotten) after my c-section. Sounds normal to me though if you are seeing a doctor or health visitor soon I'd mention it.

I bled for almost 4 weeks then it stopped for couple days and started again. If I remember right I bled exactly 6 weeks..

I also had bright red second time around and I was worried as when I gave birth they had to pull out a lot of blood clots (sorry tmi) called my consultant and she said if I wasn't in extreme pain and blood wasn't running down leg it was my period..
