Accidental drinking

The weekend before I got my bfp I went out with work. I am by no means a big drinker... Hardly ever actually. But being depressed over my mom who is really ill and not being successful in getting pregnant I drank a few glasses of wine... Enough to be rather tipsy... But not all out drunk. I had a slight hangover (no throwing up etc..) and that was it.

Now I am convinced I had harmed the baby! I am 5 weeks tomorrow... And am yet to see a doctor! Will it be alright

You will be fine, as will your baby. This happens to lots of people and babies are ok. Smile

I think this happens to lots of people in the couple of weeks before you know you are pregnant. The midwife told me that the embryo isn't yet attached to your bloodstream so nothing you eat or drink in those couple of weeks will be passed through to the baby, so there's no need to worry. Congratulations!.

BFP with DD1 was xmas eve following 3 works christmas parties all with free bars! She is now almost 6 and a little gem, no problems at all. I stressed about it for a while, until I realised almost everyone I knew who had kids had gone out for a couple before realising. I wouldn't worry, congrats!

I was ten weeks pregnant before I even realised (menopausal age Grin) and was happily drinking my regular 2-3 glasses of wine every night, no problems at all.

I did the same as you op, I had no idea I was pregnant (I had taken a test the week before and it was negative) and I went out with DH to a bar opening (free drinks!) and had a half bottle of red wine and 2 pints of cider.

Took a test next day, positive.

I was worried but my DS is perfect (17 months now).

Don't worry - you can't change it now, relax.

I expect this happens to most people. I did it with both pregnancies.

It happens to most people! Pg with dc3 and found out new year's eve after a week or so of xmas drinks. With ds1 I had a massive night before I found out. I have friends who have found out at 9 or 10 weeks after hen weekends etc. Children appear fine!

How the hell did they not realise????

I was massively hungover when I found out the day after DH's bday party and just been away on a boozy holiday Blush I was only just pregnant and apparently your blood stream isn't connected to the baby until about 6 weeks.

Pretty much everyone in Europe who isn't of a teetotal religion or health persuasion with have had a couple of drinks if they didn't expect to be pregnant.
When you had that drink the embryo was just some cells floating and hadn't bedded into your body fully yet (hence before you got your BFP).

:)

I got pg at Xmas, or just after...plenty of wine involved...over the limit type drinking, perhaps 4/5 glasses on several days...

My DS is now 9 and is bright, happy, sporty and 100% ok!

Don't worry!
