Hi, I posted the other thread as I am also worrying about this! I am wondering though if it could be sweat? Sorry I know that's not exactly nice but in this warm weather it's possible I guess! I don't know what the smell should be but I have just heard they smell sweet. Sorry I hope my other post didn't freak you out too much, great that you have a scan so soon though!

No it didn't op just got me thinking, my waters were broken last time so have no idea what to look out for just noticed that they smelt like semen which I thought was a tad odd but nothing to worry me! I just put it down to a hot day and me sweating like a pig!

They smell v sweet a bit like hay.

If you think you're waters have broken go and get checked out. Ring the maternity unit and ask for advice.

Mine smelt like musty semen - very distinctive, would definitely mention it.

Tbh I dnt go around smelling semen but I know that odour, so was a tad surprised! I'll mention it on Tuesday I just put it down a stupidly hot day and a heffalump trying to do too much and act like normal

I don't want to alarm you but I strongly urge you to ring your midwife NOW! Babies should be born within 24 hours of waters breaking as once the membrane surrounding them has broken they are vulnerable to outside organisms.

Happy birthing!

YES! My waters smelt like Semen!! I told the midwife and she laughed and said she's never heard that before. Exciting! I would definitely call your midwife/labour ward for advice. Good luck x Grin

I'd definitely contact your hospital ASAP. As Angelik said babies need to be born within 24 hrs due to infection control (or at the very least you need to have regular check-ups for signs of infection) Good luck x

Ring the midwife or maternity ward and say you think they may have started leaking. They can give you a sanitary pad to wear that turns blue with amniotic fluid.

I had PROM (premature rupture of membranes), my waters went days before I went into labour and I ended up with an infection, distressed baby and awful labour. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. Seriously, get it checked.
