Percentiles for unborn baby????

I was given my baby's approximate weight and percentile today. 1.530 kg or 3.37 lbs on the 90th percentile. I was told that I am having a big baby. I am 27 weeks by the way.

I am in Spain, just wondered if this happens in UK and if they use the same chart. I don't remember this with dd.

They don't normally do it in most areas of the UK AFAIK unless there's some reason to investigate the size (mother measuring unusually small or unusually big). Some midwives like to give guesstimates though.

DS measured on the 98th percentile, was 98th percentile at birth too (can you guess that I was in the "unusually big" category? ).

if you have growth scans in the uk they do measure the size/weight/percentiles. don't know if they use the same ones as in spain though.

Thanks, dd was quite small, so this will be a shock!

I'm diabetic so they keep close eye on baby's weight and growth. I'm 35 wks at mo and off for a scan tomorrow but my baby was measuring 3lb 14 at 31w plus 2d. That put him on the 50th centile. I think the chart is the same as have a few friends in Spain who've recently had babies and they seem to correlate although we haven't checked exactly.
Dunno if that helps....
