Could I be pregnant?

Hello,

I have never been pregnant before, so coming to you ladies for advice...

Basically I am on the pill, but sometimes I don't take it at the same time every day (one day I might take at 9am, the next day maybe 12 o clock...) and I also have Ulcerative Colitis which means I get diarrhoea sometimes.

On the 29th June I was due my period, and I did come on, but it was brown, gooey and light in flow. I did have a bit of proper blood but hardly. This lasted about 3 days.

I wondered if this meant I could be pregnant, as usually my periods are really heavy, even though I'm on the pill. I did a pregnancy test 3 days after it started and it was neg. Since then I've done 4 more tests, all negative, the last one being two days ago.

The thing is, I am feeling sick every late afternoon/evening, for no apparent reason. My appetite is just gone. Also the past few weeks I have been having pain down my arm and a weak hand which is tingling and numb (have been docs about this, he said could be carpal tunnel syndrome) but I also read this could be a symptom of pregnancy.

Do you think the tests could be wrong this early? Also I drink a LOT of water and a ridiculous amount of tea, to the extent where I go to the toilet every 20-30 minutes, but I've always been like that, for years. Just wondered if the amount of fluids I drink could have diluted HCG levels.

I don't have sore or tender boobs, or any other symptoms, apart from being tired.

Hi bird,

Of course, I can't give you a 100% answer! But from your information, I think it's unlikely that you're pregnant. If your 29th June period wasn't an actual period but implantation bleeding, then you would be 5-6 weeks pregnant by now, and should really be showing a very strong positive test, even after drinking lots of fluids.
What type of pill are you on? Some are more crucial than others to take at exactly the same time each day. For example with microgynon, missing a day altogether is unlikely to be a problem.
I'm afraid I can't suggest much other than wait to see if your next period arrives, and keep testing every week.

Ok thanks. Wouldn't it mean I would be 4 weeks though? I worked it out that I would have ovulated around the 15th June (halfway through taking my pills...) Am I wrong?

I'm on Yasmin.

Take a digital test if you want to be sure -much more clear!

Don't read up on pregnancy symptoms as they cover pretty much everything. I had very definite symptoms twice over the year before I finally became pregnant (with no symptoms at first). Never google symptoms or else you'll diagnose yourself as either pregnant or having cancer!

Hi bird,
Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last period. So if the 29th June bleeding wasn't a real period, then it would count from the one before, 1st June or thereabouts? Which is 6 weeks ago so you would be 6 weeks pregnant now.
