I went to St George's last time but I'm going to St Thomas' this time

In theory St Thomas' maternity space is all much newer and better equipped

I live nearer to George's so I'm having to travel further to see a Thomas' midwife. Also will have to pay congestion charge when driving to Thomas

My MW has said that Thomas' don't offer pethidine which Georges do

Hope this helps

St Georges not great to be honest it used to be my nearest...

I had all three of mine at St Thomas' even though I live in Streatham (so about 10 minutes drive from St G!)

They do offer Pethadine ( I had it!), but not in the rather lovely Home from Home birthing unit (gas and air only), the other side of the same floor is the ordinary Labour unit and you can get anything there (and it's still OK)

Both hospitals will do tours, so ring the wards and find out when they are doing them (St T used to be Tuesday evenings iirc) and go and have a look around.

Parking is overpriced in both of them, but as mentioned St T has the congestion charge as well. Personally if I had another one I'd go to St Ts again despite of the journey HTH

I had ds1 in St Thomas's. Midwife was fantastic, aftercare not great, but I think that's common in most places. I'd choose St T over St G if the choice were mine though.

I would avoid St George's at all cost. They are excessively interventionist.

I didn't experience any intervention at St G's but I would say the unit is poorly run and understaffed
