I'm 17 weeks today with DC2. In my first pregnancy I felt nauseous all day between 5 and 14 weeks. He is a boy.
This time I have been feeling less nauseous in the day but horrendous in the evening. Until about 13 weeks I felt completely wiped out after 6pm. At 17 weeks I still feel sick in the evenings.

Tell me your anecdotes, does this mean this one's a girl? What's more reliable, old wives tales about nausea or new wives tales on the nub theory (which says it's a boy!)?

I have 4 dds and I'm pregnant with my first and last boy.
I've had varying degrees of sickness with all of them. The main difference this time is that it continued past 11 weeks which hadn't happened before and I got a very bad belly for the first month or so!

I'm a different shape this time, all belly and my boobs are a lot bigger then with the girls. I've put a lot less weight on though and haven't craved sugar as much.

I know people say there's no difference but I think this pregnancy has been fairly different.

Hyperemesis with DD1

Average morning sickness up to 12 weeks then 2 weeks of hell with DD2

The nub thing works as well. Told boy at 13 week scan by nub and it was right. I've been looking at my friends scans and got 3 right so far based on nub theory.

I had awful sickness with dc 2&3 (boys) until 20 odd weeks. None at all with 1&4 (girls). Could just be purely coincidental but that's my experience.

I felt sick up until roughly 14 weeks with DS1 and 2, but was in and out of hospital with bleeding all the way through.

With DD I had no bleeding, but I was sick (so, so sick - no meat, no dairy, no tea, smell of poor DSs skin made me heave) all the way up until I had her (10 days over) I didn't throw up much, more retching than anything but it was just unrelenting nausea. Horrid.

Ds1 - relatively bad nausea all day but still able to function.
This pregnancy - full blown hyperemesis! Also a boy!

maxpower · 08/07/2014 23:55

Totally different pregnancies. Dd = morning sickness, travel sickness, loads of energy. Ds = no sickness, exhausted, food cravings, pelvic pain.

Sick as a dog every day for 2 months, a lot of vomiting , and it's a boy.

Nub theory is pretty accurate. Two ds, now pg with dd and nausea much worse. All pregnancies pretty horrible though!

MrsBungle · 09/07/2014 06:07

I had hyperemesis where I was hospitalised for weeks of my pregnancies from 5 weeks to 40 weeks. I had 1 girl and 1 boy.

BeattieBow · 09/07/2014 06:37

for me the nausea/sickness lasted longer with the girls - I knew I was having a girl for my last one because the nausea went on after 28 weeks.

Batmansbuttocks · 09/07/2014 06:42

I guessed nub theory with my own 3 DC and have got every one right I've guessed so far since then!

Why is pregnancy so awful? Why all the nausea and vomiting, Mother Nature?
