Braxton Hicks or Labour?

I am 40 weeks, got a membrane sweep 4 days ago. 2 days ago the mucus plug has started to come away. Now I seem to be getting tightening across my abdomen, they are not painful but getting about 4 in an hour. Do you think they are more likely to be braxton hicks than the real thing?

Unfortunately it could be anything, only time will tell.
Try and sleep and eat while you can in case. Contractions should get more and more painful and more regular in a pattern. They wont stop if you change what you do either.
My contractions really started to get uncomfortable and eventually the pain started in my bum before moving around the front.
In hindsight it was a bit obvious it could be labour but at the time i thought it was braxton hicks as they weren't regular. It took 4 days and my waters going to realise it was the real thing!

I am getting the same but every couple of minutes this evening (I am 37+1). They are just like the BH that I have been getting for the last few months, but much much more frequent. However no pain, no show, no waters gone. Drinking water, lying down, bath haven't made much of a difference.

Should I be worried? I have read that this frequency of contractions may cause foetal distress? Anyone had similar or any advice? :(

Usmama- call your midwife or maternity ward and explain that to them. Sounds like labour..

Op- if you are not sure also call they can hook you up on a Monitor and check if you are in labour also check your cervix

Good luck to both of you
