Very painful ankles

My inner ankles have hurt for a few weeks and it's now so bad that it hurts to walk. They have been swollen for a while, which my midwife says is normal, but what can I do about the pain? Should I try to avoid certain shoes?

My feet were so swollen it hurt to walk or touch them in the end the only shoes i could wear were a cheap pair of beach flip flops nothing else fit!Unfortunately the pain wont go until the swelling does my dd is 16 days old and my feet have only returned to their normal size the last couple of days, I had a section so they actually were more swollen because of that. I really feel for you it's so uncomfortable try sleeping with your feet on pillows to drain it and get your other half to massage them it's tender but relieves the tightness.

Thank you, butterfly. I will definitely do that.

Oh butterfly...I'm glad I'm not the only one living in beach flip flops. I had a funeral to go to last week and must have looked rediculous but they are so so so swollen I struggle even in them.

VJONES my midwife suggested regula breaks and elevation for my feet. If the swelling is up your legs as well you'll need to stand up regularly to help shift it. I've resigned to the fact I'm gonna be elephant woman for a while yet lol

I don't really have breaks as I'm a teacher. Spend a lot of time on my feet but the swelling is my feet and ankles.

By breaks I mean time off your feet. I finished work at 38 weeks so trying desperately to get as many feet up days in as I can before he makes an appearance.

I hope you find a solution that works for you

Southderbyshire i looked ridiculous all the time it would be chucking it down with rain and i'd have my flip flops on i had to wear them with anything wether they matched or not which they rarely did cos they were so ugly haha!
