Hi all, I'm 25 weeks and I've had six people in the last week comment on my bump.

I was quite skinny when I got pregnant and showed from 9 weeks. Now at 25 I seem to have slowed down? But the fact that people are saying " when are you going to grow?" And " 25 weeks?? Ooh you don't look it!". As well as other comments!

I get Braxton hicks a lot and can easily feel the top of my uterus and its just above my belly button. So where it should be at this stage. The baby kicks and moves alot and they are getting stronger?

So should I worry that I'm "too small" or ignore the comments? Everyone is an expert! Hmm

Everyone's an expert but no one is an expert in you! Ignore all the comments - I've had so many telling me I'm big, expecting twins and even one trying to convince me I'm having a girl when I've seen his boy bits on an ultrasound, all because of my bump! Every pregnancy is different and as long as you and your midwife are happy, smile sweetly at everyone else whilst cursing them in your head : )

Thanks mssleepyhead :-). I try to ignore then find myself googling and fretting!

Maybe their just jealous because they turned into whales when they were pregnant? I'm always impressed at how neat slimmer women are when they're pregnant.

People have this fixed idea of about 30 weeks gone when they see a pregnant woman... anyone smaller they think 'too small', any bigger they say 'twins'. Honestly I've had people make comments about my bump and then they've asked how many weeks I was!! Tells you how much people know!

Eminybob · 05/07/2014 22:18

I know how you feel op, but for me it's the opposite, people keep commenting on how big I am.

Just ignore ignore ignore (easier said than done I know)

airplanesandsun · 05/07/2014 22:32

Yawn and ignore. People feel they need to comment and talk rubbish. I am skinny, was tiny bump wise and have had 2x 7-12 babies. I have mates who were huge and had 6lb babies ...

peppercold · 05/07/2014 22:40

Thanks all! I've had that too squizita! Must learn to ignore I guess!

I agree with all the op's, ignore, ignore, ignore..... I too had a very small bump and gave birth to a healthy 7lbs 7oz baby, I don't know how she fitted in there, she was so active and I felt every movement she made. The comments I got were so insensitive but I learnt quick enough to ignore it as I would have spent my pregnancy fretting if I listened to people.
Good luck with your pregnancy and just drown out all the comments, after all every woman and every pregnancy is different.

peppercold · 05/07/2014 22:53

Thanks Peanut. I can feel his movements almost constantly too. You're right, it is insensitive, as it has made me worry!

In the same day, I've had people tell me the ever hilarious 'are you sure there's not twins', and 'god, you will be giant at 9 months, look at you now', to 'ooh, that's tiny', 'are you sure you're 7 months?'. My baby has measured perfectly on track at every scan, as has my bump. The majority of people don't actually have any idea, they just feel the need to say something! Don't worry!

LBNM19 · 06/07/2014 03:13

I've had, your not very big are you? Quite a few times, I find it rude.

Had the other day your only 24 weeks?? Your going to be massive!!

Lol personally I don't think I'm very big but have a noticeable bump. Xx

barmybunting · 06/07/2014 05:43

Ignore them! Every pregnancy is different, and so much of how you carry depends on your body. I am 22 weeks with my first, and a colleague is about 4 days ahead of me. We are constantly getting comments at work about how we can't be that close because apparently you can only just see my bump and hers is huge. It is driving us both mad. Never mind that she is around 5"2 and I am 5"8 so of course we will carry differently.

I am doing my best to just ignore the small bump comments and just concentrate on the fact baby is ok.

BeccaBrkr7 · 06/07/2014 09:52

I've had exactly the same with both my pregnancies! I'm 33 weeks and I've had comments like "oh you look like you've just had a big meal, are u sure there's a baby in there?" Drives me mad! Everyone is shocked when I say how far along I am! Had Growth scans and baby is perfect size! I know how u feel though! It's very annoying!! Hmm

pinkfairy84 · 06/07/2014 12:22

I get this as well! Im 39 weeks and the midwife I saw on Friday predicted him to be the higher end of 8 pounds and on the same day I got told by another that I look sooooo small so shouldnt be complaining about the end of my preganancy. And then someone else told me I am so big I shouldnt drive any longer because its dangerous.... I find it really annoying that people comment but not as bad as the people who tell me I must tell them as soon as he is moving so they can touch my stomach!

SellyMevs · 06/07/2014 21:19

I get the opposite. Apparently I am huge and they must have made a mistake and it can only be twins! I'm 34 weeks, I've had 4 scans.. you'd think I'd know by now! Everyone seems to think they know best.. Smile sweetly and ignore them!

fidgetywidget · 06/07/2014 21:28

I'm 30 weeks with my second & again getting the "aren't you small" etc etc, I'd second what PPs have said, everyone carries differently, ignore the comments!
With my 1st I measured smallish all the way through, had a growth scan which said average. When I went in to MW unit in labour MWs all said ooh small baby...she was 8lb 2.
Expecting the same again this time as currently measuring 1cm under.
