Tanning when pregnant?

Is it safe to tan? I have been using the summer body daily moisturiser recently but hadn't really considered whether it was safe or not.

They say its ok(ish) however your skin might react differently to the product giving you a more blotchy or patchy result.

My tan has been coming out a bit patchy, particularly the gradual tanners. Not overly noticeable, but it annoys me.

Yes medically summer body type products are safe however I still haven't found one that doesn't look awful (the ph of some people's skin changes when pregnant). :)

I've only been using it for a few days and haven't noticed it streaking or looking blotchy. Was just fed up of looking pale :-)

I use Johnson's holiday sun every now and again and haven't noticed any difference being pregnant. And yes I see no reason why it wouldn't be safe. For the record I think it's the best one out there!

ive been moisturising with vaseline aerosols then using st tropex instant tan light. its waterproof but comes off with soap & water. im whiter than white so only need a little to look alive lol

Overheating can be dangerous so make sure yiu don't get too hot.

squizita · 05/07/2014 17:58

Overheating means your core temperature rising, so sitting in the sun is highly unlikely to do this in most of Europe. You may burn more easily than before you were pregnant though, and will need to drink more water.

In fact vitamin D deficiency and lack of sun is a far more common issue in European pregnancies than overheating.

Been tanning up to now (holiday and garden) and I'm now due.
Sun is good in moderation and as long as you wear appropriate sunscreen.
Spent a week on a beach when I was 7 months and it was lovely.
Better to be exposed to the sun regularly than to suffer from vitamin D deficiency.
