I've been reading a lot of blogs since I found out I was pregnant and constantly find myself comparing my bump to other peoples even though I know everyone's body is different. I'm 20 weeks and feel like I'm barely showing, anyone else feeling the same?

I'm 22 weeks and feel MASSIVE! I even lie to people I don't know about how far along I am to dodge their judgement. I guess it's natural to compare to others x

CoolCat2014 · 03/07/2014 20:58

Everyone looks different, depends on your frame size, BMI, way you're carrying etc.

Don't worry about it, you'll soon pop out ;)

FirstTimeMummy95x · 03/07/2014 21:03

I'm quite small height and weight wise so maybe going to take a while before it shows:) i popped out quite quickly around 12-13 weeks but now i feel tiny! lets hope i begin to look a bit more pregnant soon, i guess its just the excitement of a first time mummy wanting to see her bump

I'm 22 weeks tomorrow and have only just popped out this last week. Whereas my aunt told me she started showing in the first 3 months then didn't grow anymore. Everyone's body is different. If your MW is happy then don't worry.

purplemurple1 · 03/07/2014 21:13

A week before I gave birth people couldn't guess I was pregnant, although I measured only a couple of weeks behind and ds was around 40% at birth.
Some of us just hide it well.

Sleepyhoglet · 03/07/2014 22:31

I'm large at 20 weeks tomorrow but usually a slim 6-8 so it really shows!! Felt baby kick from the outside today.

BumpNGrind · 03/07/2014 22:49

I'm 26 weeks and have only been showing for the last three weeks really, I'm still not big. I've been able to feel kicks from 16 weeks.

MissMagpie · 04/07/2014 12:55

I found that I was quite small until about 16 weeks, at 20 weeks I was showing a bit then since then I have had some major growth spurts and now, at 28 weeks, look like I have swallowed a ball!

Everyone is different and everyone else always has an opinion on what your bump is like. Don't worry too much what people say - most people are just trying to bond over a shared experience and don't realise that it can set off worries by comparing yours to theirs or other peoples'.

As long as baby is growing that's all that matters.

squizita · 04/07/2014 13:58

I didn't seem to be growing much and people would make "concerned" comments which worried me.

  1. I popped out MASSIVELY 22-24 weeks
  2. Before then my baby was average or bigger at every scan.

It just depends on how you carry - my mum carried twins and was in her normal clothes for 19 weeks!

squizita · 04/07/2014 13:59

...baby is still just above average size. No one comments now as I have an obvious bump.

SarahMcCxx · 04/07/2014 15:04

I am 22 weeks pregnant tomorrow. The other day someone told me that my bump was small, and then today someone said that I was big! I think everyone else just compares your bump to their own :-)

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 04/07/2014 16:51

I am 19weeks and have a barely there bump n lots normal clothes still fit was SAME last pregnancy but expected bigger for second although have been unwell currently half stone less than pre pregnancy.

However 24weeks last time n bump made an appearance n yep no hiding it then.

ImBrian · 05/07/2014 08:54

I'm 19 weeks and mines pretty huge. I was small with most of my other pregnancies but my stomach muscles have given up. With my first I had no bump till well past 20 weeks and then had a small bump the whole time. Was easier then having a massive one.
