So, I'm after some advice from those of you have had DC naturally previously, as I've never laboured. May be too TMI in places I'm afraid

Basically, last few days I think I've been having Braxton hicks. Not painful as such but uncomfortable. Also have had an increase in discharge too but ok with a panty liner, sometimes needs a change during the day.

Last night an today however, I've had a horrendous lower back ache. Really sore and only better with a lot of pressure on it. Also had 5 or 6 "pains" in my belly in last hour and half, around 2-4 mins long in length, though no relating to them. Sort of stabbing and low down, around my c section scar, and belly going rock hard. Also had a massive increase in activity down below. Feels very damp, almost like lacy pants would be fresh from the washing machine. Doesn't smell like urine, or semen (like I've been told waters smell like) sort of no smell but kind of smells sweet too if that makes sense. Have put a maternity pad on and it's very very lightly yellow stained and damp. Can you leak waters without the plug coming out?

I'm hesitant to call the midwife. I know that's what they are there for but id feel an idiot if it's just Braxton hicks and more discharge. Plus the fact I seem to be up there every 14 days or so for other various health issues too makes me worry they think I'm a time waster / hypochondriac.

Anyone have any ideas? Does it just sound like Braxton hicks? Ahhh, am only 30+4, don't want it to be labour!

At 30+4 I'd definitely be going to the midwife.

It's probably nothing but better safe than sorry.

(I'm not a midwife)

I am not a midwife either but amniotic fluid is supposed to smell sweet. When you are hugely pregnant you can sniff your pad yo work out if it is the start of your waters going or just wee. I would give the mw a ring and get it checked out.

Good luck.

smells sweet too if that makes sense Call the midwife! I have been told a semen smell OR sweet smell can mean fluid. They can do a test.

It may well just be mucus and discharge... but if it is a leak, there are things they can do to delay labour but only if they catch it in time so do ring now!!

At 30+4 ring the maternity unit, go in and get checked out.

Wear pads from now on to show if necessary ( white ones , not always type) and call the midwife.
