I was under the impression it usually occurred in later pregnancy.

I was under investigation for carpal tunnel pre pregnancy and in the last few weeks the pain has been unbearable. I hope for your sake it isn't early symptoms :-(

I had dreadful carpal tunnel in pregnancy and would have had surgery if DS hadn't arrived very early. I would suggest getting a referral asap if you are having real problems already.

I finally had surgery a couple of weeks ago (DS 6mo) and may well have permanent nerve damage - don't be too brave!

I'm assuming it isn't a mild episode as you say it's driving you crazy.

Rightsaidfred recommended exactly the thing. You can get them in boots, and do wonders for tendon pain/RSI.

Sleeping in the splint works wonders, what with the splint and the nose strips to stop my snoring I look really attractive at night!

I've had CT each pregnancy but it has gone fairly quickly afterwards.

I have been suffering and got a referral for physio which has helped a lot. I'm supposed to have my wrists taped up all the time now as the pain is constant not just at night, but

Eminybob · 02/07/2014 11:20

Oh sorry. Just going to say its a bit of a backache having them strapped all the time so I tend not too (and then just moan about the pain!)

I had it from quite early on, maybe about 12 weeks.

Eminybob · 02/07/2014 11:20

That was meant to say ball ache not backache. Not having much luck!

Mummytobeforthefirsttime · 02/07/2014 21:28

I started getting Carpal Tunnel at 30 weeks in both wrists. I wear splints at night but the pain is constant and progressively worsen. I'm now 36 weeks and sometimes I gasp in pain, if I moved my hand slightly. The splints help me when the are on, but soon as I take them off the pain returns.

Thanks ladies! I am waiting for the doctor to call me in the morning as I think my blood pressure is pretty low so I will ask him then. it does seem pretty early though!!
sorry to hear so many of you suffered/are suffering!

I get carpal tunnel in my right hand everytime I'm pregnant. It kinda how I know if I'm pregnant or not! Grin

Annoying but easy to deal with. Doctors can't really do much for it accept confirm it and then give you exercises to do and tell you to ice it twice a day - what they told me anyway (as I suffer from Cubital tunnel in my left arm/elbow/wris). I've had studies done but not severe enough to require surgery yet.
