Has anybody given birth, or due to give birth at Whiston hosp in Merseyside?

I had my 2 boys at the Liverpool Womens but opted for Whiston this time Wink

My sister had her 3 there but the last one was 2007. Sorry not much help as it was a long time ago but she was very happy with the care she got. I don't know anyone else more recent though, sorry!

Hi Little Wink
Thanks for your reply Smile

Hoping it will be a nice experience, can't fault the hospital so far, but for other reasons, have no idea regarding their Ante-natal dept! x

Gave birth to dd in Whiston 3 years ago when it was really new. It had fabulous facilities and was spotless.

Started out as a water birth but dd was stuck so ended up in theatre with an epidural and a forceps delivery.

All the care was great and I was given my own room when I asked afterwards, which had an ensuite shower and loo.

Parking is a bit pricey but dh was given a free ticket after staying 6 hours.

I had dd there - she's 1.5 now

The birthing rooms are spacious, clean and very bright! There's a shower in the corner of the room.

I believe there is one birthing pool there.

I was only in 2 hours giving birth and although first midwife was a bit rubbish and kept disappearing, the next one who came on shift was amazing, she came in asked me if I wanted the baby out and had me pushing and she was out in 20 mins! We were able to stay in room for a few hours while we chilled out, fed baby, had a shower etc and was left alone which was nice.

Ward was ok, 4 of us to a room. I was only there for about 10 hours - from 2am to midday. Use the free maternity pads and nick a couple too they're really good and thick! I asked for water and cotton wool to change baby nappy and was no problem.

Tbh whiston is nice and new but I think I want this next one at home as I think it will be a nicer experience eg low lighting, own bed afterwards etc

When I say shower in corner I meant a shower room!
