Two periods a week apart. What does it mean?

I'm looking for some advice. Basically, I had my period last week, however it wasn't like my normal one - quite light and only lasted maybe 4 days. Anyway, after it had gone I still felt really premenstrual (emotional, crampy, cranky etc) so i was quite confused, and the to my surprise I had a little bloody discharge yesterday and now I'm bleeding again. I've never had anything like thus before so I'm a bit concerned. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?

I had this on & off for a few years.

Initially I was tested for all STI's as this can cause it but I didn't have any.

I then had regular ultrasounds at the GUM clinic to see if something had been missed and the sonographer was surprised to see I was mid-cycle with many follicles to the point where she suggested I could donate eggs as I was overflowing with them as well as bleeding at the same time.

In effect, it was haywire hormones telling me to get a wriggle on with baby-making. My body was literally pushing out eggs every week hence so many periods.

This has happened to me a couple of times when I've been really stressed.

Watching with interest, this happened to me 3 weeks ago and i've started my period again today. Normal cycle 32 days on the dot.

My last one was very light and a week before i was due, this one seems more 'normal' so far.

I've done a fair few pregnancy tests over the last few weeks too, all BFN. No idea what's causing it!

How old are you?

Thanks for all your replies :). Its really strange. I've never had any irregularity period-wise before so that's what's got me a bit worried. I did a pregnancy test a couple of weeks ago but it was negative, although it could have been too early at the time.
