34 weeks and still not real

Does anyone else look at their bump and think there's a "baby" in here but not really connect it to being an actual person, living and breathing and a real human being?

I haven't connected my bump with a real baby yet and I'm concerned that at 34 weeks, this is a bit nutty! Yes I know I'm going to give birth and have a baby but it's more a "baby" and not a real living breathing little person.....!

31 weeks here... And yeah if you stop and think about it it's a little freaky. As is having a foot stuck under your ribs Wink

Yep. Still feel like you at 37+3. Im sure it'll all seem real when I'm pushing him out lol

redexpat · 01/07/2014 17:54

not this time, but first time it didnt seem real until newborn ds looked into my eyes.

mssleepyhead · 01/07/2014 19:15

Completely. 32 weeks here and went for a scan at 30 weeks to convince myself it was actually a baby. Felt very real when I saw his face staring back at me, but now I'm back to feeling a bit disbelieving. It's going to be a heck of a shock...

Dogsmom · 01/07/2014 19:23

I was exactly like that but I think it was a self protection mechanism to stop myself getting too attached just in case anything went wrong, I didn't relax fully or accept it until she was born, checked over and placed in my arms.

I keep thinking about his birth certificate and how once that's done he'll be a real, registered person in the world. Crazy. I just shared that thought with my husband and he looked at me like 'Well DUH'

Missingcaffeine · 01/07/2014 19:49

28 weeks with first and feel like this. I thought about having another scan to see what's in there again.

I'm 29w tomorrow and still in denial, even though we've had numerous scans and another one coming up on 16th, can feel wriggles and jabs, but still can't believe there's a baby in there lol x

ohthegoats · 02/07/2014 07:47

27 and a bit weeks, and it's not real here either. I had a bit of a 'oh, I'm going to have to give birth' moment yesterday = panic, but other than that... just cruising along, imagining that I'm going skiing at Christmas. Ha.

Yep. 34+5. Doesn't feel real in the slightest, despite all the preparations going on and getting pummelled from within all day long. I'm not expecting it to feel real till him/her is out.

Gen35 · 03/07/2014 18:20

Even when I was in labour it didn't feel as though it was really happening to me. It gets real when you have the baby though, don't worry. It is a weird business, pregnancy.
