I stopped the pill on 22nd May and had withdrawal bleed on 25th May. I was thinking AF may take a while to come back after being on the pill so was waiting for it to start so I could work out when I would ovulate to start TTC.

5 weeks later and no AF. "Not unusual" I thought. However I took a test just out of curiosity and it was positive!!!!

DH and I are so excited but I've just realised I don't know what happens now! Shall I just phone for a GP appointment?

I went along to my GP with my positive tests in my bag and advised her that I had had 3 positive tests. She said she didnt need to do any further tests as the home kits are just as reliable as a Drs test nowadays. She also asked when my last period was and worked out my estimated due date. I was told to give my details in at reception and my midwife for my surgery would contact me for my booking appointment which happens at around 8 weeks.

Ring your GP surgery and tell them you've done a pregnancy test and it was positive. They probably won't want you to come in till you're about 9 weeks for a booking in appointment with the midwife. I thought they'd want to do another pregnancy test to be sure but they just take your word for it!

Congratulations on your news. Very exciting times. Get the folic acid going now if you haven't already started it. Hope all goes well x

Oh, congrats too! Stupid pregnancy brain

Thanks!

Luckily I've been taking the folic acid for 2 months in preparation as we knew we would be starting to TTC.

I've phoned the GP and she has booked me an appointment with the midwife on Wednesday! Seems a bit soon but maybe they are just keen to see you and get things rolling.

Not sure how they will date it due to not having a period since my withdrawal bleed. No idea when ovulation occurred so may have to wait until the first scan.

I've thrown the tests (x3) away but I have photographed them on my phone so I can keep checking I didn't dream it!

Wow, the service round your way must be waaaaaaay better than mine. I haven't seen my m/w for the booking appointment, its 3 weeks away and I'm 13 weeks now!
Congrats Smile

Congratulations. I saw GP as had got a UTI at 4 weeks. She just gave me the midwives' no to ring. They saw me at 6 weeks and did bloods and urine sample, then had proper booking in at 10 weeks. She said they like to see women as early as possible to make sure they know health advice e.g. Folic acid. Also they gave me the notes with questions about my history to do ready for the booking in. My appointments are all at my local Children's Centre. Good luck.

Depends on your area. Mine you phone the doctor and make an appointment with the midwife straight away. Was a week later and she didn't do a test as the home one was enough.

Scoobs I'm why are they waiting 16 weeks for your booking appointment? Shouldn't you have had your scan by then?

Scoobsmam13 · 30/06/2014 19:02

Yes Jenny scan is on Thursday - cannot wait!!! I don't know if first time mums are having to wait so long too, or if its because its my second that I am pushed down the priority list. Seems there must be something in the water over here, she must be super busy!
