My hubby2b applied for the prison service last december we knew it could take months and carried on regardless well I got pregnant dd due 18/8/14 and tonight about 5 mins ago my h2b has got his start date 14th july! This is great news financially but I was kinda hoping it would be after dd had arrived, he has to do 2 weeks away training in rugby and me being a tad poorly with this one and coping with a unruly 3 year old leaves me cacking my granny pants sumwhat! And it also leaving it periously close to due date by ecs. I know paternity leave is out the window but he didn't have any when ds was born as he had only been in that job 4 weeks,he says jokingly I'm only being fair lol can't have time off with one and not other, I told my mum tonight and she went nuts but I know if he defers etc he will lose the job, 4 years ago I made him choose job or house and he gave up his job of a lifetime all be it seasonal for a rented house so I dnt want him to choose again, any ideas how I can cope without crackin open a large gin and tonic

Has he asked about paternity leave? My OH works for the prison service and we are under the impression they offer a good one? Unfortunately I cant give you anymore info than that because we are too early on to be telling his employer. Congtats on his new job!

He could ask if there is a start date after the due date, there may be more than one intake

Your probably better getting it over with now. Depending on what he is doing he might not be able to take his phone into the new job. I cant see why he wouldn't be granted paternity leave when the time comes. Im pretty sure all the structure changes are starting on the 14th

I was under the impression u had to be there a certain time to get paternity leave but could be wrong! He's defered training until 15th september which is a huge relief but he officially starts on 14th july so can relax a tad
