Low Lying Placenta 34 Week Scan

hi just wondered if anyone else out there could just tell me what to expect really as at my 20 week scan was told i had a low lying placenta and got booked in for another scan at 34 weeks. The midwife did say it was only a little bit covering so hopefully would've moved up by 34 weeks. Just wondered what to expect really...do i need a full bladder? Will i get pictures again? Is it just a usual abdominal scan as did read they do internal ones? Hope someone can help :)

I had my 20 week scan last week and have been told the same. They're calling me back for another scan at 32 weeks.

As far as I have been told it's just a normal scan to see if the placenta has moved. If it hasn't moved out of the way enough then it will be a cesarean birth.

I think at 32/34 weeks the baby is too big for photos but if you want one I'm sure they would do you one Smile

I had a low lying one, I was preg with twins. At my 20 wk scan it was commented on by my next scan 2 wks later it had moved enough for it not to be a concern. I think it's something like 90% have moved up enough by 34wks so I wouldn't worry. There's nothing you can do to help it. I know it's easier said than done but try and forget about it and carry on as normal.

I had to have an additional scan at 35+6 and wasn't able to get any additional photos, not that I minded. I guess it depends on your hospital

I am in the same position. I have another scan tomorrow (32 weeks) the to make sure placenta has moved. It says on my letter you don't need a full bladder for this one. Not sure about pics tho x

I had this in my first pregnancy and placenta had moved by 34 weeks. I did have to have and internal scan as well as an abdominal scan though to make sure. Baby was too big by then to fit onto a picture all in one go so i didn't bother asking!
