friend not keen on nuva ring, diaphragm, implanon, condoms, mini pill, combined pill, copper coil, mirena coil or depo injection as she has heard of quite a few unplanned pregnancies despite being used correctly.

Evra worked for me. However literally as soon as I came off it I got pregnant so I do think you would have to make sure you use it correctly and couldn't be changing patches late etc

also what about nexplanon?

Fan of Evra here too, been using for 7ish years on/off to have children in between.

I love it but like the other poster got pregnant first month after stopping x 2 Smile

Nexplanon (which replaced implanon) is one of the most effective as a contraception but some people have problems with periods becoming too frequent (mine went from heavy to light to non-existent). Also liked that you could be one for 3 years before renewing. I used them for 9 years before coming off to get pregnant and would definitely recommend trying it out.

Can I hop on please I've made the decision to get my mirena taken out (it's making me a crazy bitch and giving me 14 day periodsSad)

I have been researching and evra is top of my list but i don't know anyone who has used it .

When I Asked for evra my practice nurse said I was the first person she had had ask for it! She's not young either lol

mumof3 Yes, mine too. She said it's only just becoming more popular because eastern European women favour it. Another reason is that like Yasmin it's very expensive.

I have however just fallen pregnant whilst on Evra, age 45, and have been using it strictly for the last few months. I'm still very Hmm dubious about this 99.9% rate that most contraceptions state, considering how many women (who don't do it on purpose) fall pregnant. Those stats ought to be revised. But then would people use a brand that stated it was actually only 85% reliable ...

I used evra for 3 years (age16-19) managed to get pregnant whilst on it when I was 19 DD1 is 6 now dD2 was conceived the day after I had my coil out I do love my coil thought if I couldn't have it for what ever reason I would try the patch again.
