Miscarriage and medical management

Hi,

We found out a couple of weeks ago at a private early scan that our baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. I got an appointment at my local hospital the following week where I had the first scan by them, then had the follow up scan on Monday. Yesterday I was booked in for medical management, but on Monday afternoon I started to bleed very heavily with a lot of big clots, I had to stay on the toilet. I was in agonising pain that was coming on every 30 seconds. Eventually my husband called for an ambulance, after some gas and air the pain wasn't as bad - I think I had got through the worst of it already as I didn't pass anymore clots.

Yesterday I went in for the medical management expecting them to say not to bother due to what happened the day before, but they said I should go ahead with it - even though I was still bleeding quite heavily. Nothing changed whilst in hospital for the 6 hours following the tablets being inserted so I went home. This morning I went to the toilet and the 4 tablets have come out whole, I'm assuming this means that they didn't have any effect as I would have thought they should have dissolved? Now I don't know what to do as I feel that I passed everything on Monday and the hospital was very disorganised and took forever to get anything done I don't really want to go back, but I want to make sure everything has fully gone as we want to try again as soon as possible. Any advice? Thanks x

I'm sorry for your loss Peachy. I think in your situation I would call the EPAU or wherever you had the medical management started and explain what has happened. Maybe ask for a scan to check that the pregnancy sac has passed?

My last period was on May 27th. I had intercourse on the 6th of June, and now I'm waiting for my period on the 26-27th now of June. I'm not sure if it's my brain working to make me freak out and FEEL like something's going on? I'm just paranoid, I had a uti earlier and so that's the reason I've been urinating so often. But my breasts aren't tender and I'm not tired feeling at all. But I did in the last couple days feel like I had a pain in my lower abdomen, and then tonight I woke up going to the bathroom and finding a small mucus ball with a little brown in it at the bottom of the toilet. I took an early pregnancy test and it showed neg?
Help?!

Sorry to hear this. I was in your position after my first mc. I arranged the D&C regardless and they agreed to scan me in the morning to confirm whether the surgical management was still necessary as I had passed a lot of matter, including the foetus. I think at the very least you ought to request another scan, as if you still have things lingering inside it could cause infection (as I was unlucky enough to experience after my second mc and subsequent D&C!).

Once again, so sorry you're going through this. It's no fun at all.
