So I'm 20 +4 with dc1/ds1 :)

My Belly is growing nicely and I'm wondering when stretchmarks usually appear? I'm cocoa buttering to help prevent them!

Day after dd was born Angry
Absolutely gutted.

JackieBrambles · 23/06/2014 17:33

I got none, and I bio oiled every day. I do think its genetic though, but I didn't want to take the chance. My mum has none.

ohthegoats · 23/06/2014 18:02

I'm assuming I'm going to get them, and just carrying on with my normal moisturising routine (which is just normal E45 cream all over each morning). Mum had them a bit, but she said they faded. I don't really care that much... I'm much more concerned about long term shagging pain from a duff birth.

oh wow so many replies, I'll start reading now!

I've been bio-oiling since about 13 wks and now 32 wks and no sign of any. I agree it's probably genetic (my mum has none) but I'm not taking any chances!

Alita7 · 23/06/2014 18:50

My mum didn't get many, I have some on my boobs and between my thighs from puberty but I'm crossing my fingers that I'll get away with it!

I've been holding on to the hope that laser treats stretch marks... A la Kim Kardashian. Please God I'm right..

ImBrian · 23/06/2014 19:29

Four pregnancies and none on my belly but I did get some on my bum. Pregnant with number 5 and I'm not sure I'll be so lucky this time as bump seems huge already!

mssleepyhead · 23/06/2014 19:35

Bio oiled every day from 20 weeks, but still noticed my first stretch marks very low below the bump yesterday at 30 weeks. My sister is covered and my mum got them too so don't know why I hoped I'd get away with it : (

PenguinsHatchedAnEgg · 23/06/2014 19:49

Nothing can prevent them - they happen at a lower level in the skin to where moisturisers reach.

Mostly got mine post 38 weeks.

crabwoman · 23/06/2014 19:52

2 pregnancies and not a single stretch mark on my stomach.
I do however have some on my thighs from when I was 14 and grew about a foot over the summer hols!!

PicandMinx · 23/06/2014 19:57

I didn't have any until a doctor checking the position of DS, gave me a very rough and painful exam, that left my stomach covered in angry marks. Sad

Droflove · 23/06/2014 22:14

I think you either get them or you dont. No amount of rubbed on goo will stop it or fix it. If you do get them, they will either fade or they wont....

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 23/06/2014 22:30

I'm reassured by those in here saying they have done from puberty but didn't get any from pregnancy. I've got faded ones all over my thighs from growth spurts as a teenager and thought that meant I'd definitely get them. So far I have none at 36 and a bit weeks, but I'm fully expecting them to make an appearance at some point. Can't remember if my mum had them or not. A friend told me hers appeared at 39 weeks though, so I'm not holding out much hope...

VJONES1985 · 23/06/2014 22:34

I'm 32 weeks and not got any so far..!

nugget05 · 23/06/2014 23:04

Mine appeared out of nowhere at 39 week's my belly just seemed to get massive over night and baby didn't come until 42 weeks so 3 weeks of expanding. Sat here now with my 4 week old baby and the pinkest tiger stripes on my poor belly Sad

Iswallowedawatermelon · 23/06/2014 23:10

I got a few small faint ones on my lower section of bump at around 38-40 weeks last time. These faded after a couple of months.

usualnamechanger · 23/06/2014 23:57

People, remember they do fade.

miajacob098 · 18/12/2018 09:22

Also apply bio oil too.

Monkeynuts18 · 18/12/2018 09:35

I’m also given hope by people saying they got them in puberty but didn’t get them in pregnancy. I’d assumed if you got them in puberty you had the genetic ticket and would get them in pregnancy! Here’s hoping!

With DC1 I started using Bio-oil from mid second trimester. Nothing until around 38 weeks when I got a sprinkling of stretch marks low down on my bump, both sides.

They weren't that noticeable really, was in a bikini when baby was 6 months.

DC2 again uses Bio-oil from start of second trimester.
Again it was late, around 37 weeks when I noticed some stretch marks around my belly button.

My old ones looked much more noticeable (guess the skin was stretched etc). Bump was def bigger second time around.

Now 4 months down the line, they look silvery, tho they never livid/bright purple or pink colour

TurquoiseDress · 18/12/2018 12:52

Just to add- I think it's pretty much pot luck whatever you do!

I'm happy I used Bio oil even though it was mega expensive, think it helped my skin feel better (it got v dry) and it was lovely to have a daily ritual of massaging bump etc Smile

Unicorn234 · 18/12/2018 16:37

I feel like I got mine pretty much straight away haha 🙈
& there just getting bigger and bigger each day lol xx
