Food poisoning at 37 weeks dangerous!

I think I have food poisoning. I had a burger and chips from our local take away. At 5am I woke to puke and all that came up was bits of undigested burger (gross). I've just puked again (more burger) and my tummy is so sore. I also feel really dizzy.

Do I need to call the doctor or just ride it out as I've had no extra poo. I feel like I need to but nothing is coming out. Sorry for TMI.

I had food poisoning a few weeks back, it was awful.

You need to try and drink, if you can't drink I found that ice lollies were brilliant and I didn't vomit them back up. We almost called the midwife but by about 4pm I stopped vomiting. Took a few days to feel normal again. Baby is fine. The main risk is dehydration.

I had what I think was food poisoning around 36 weeks in my last pregnancy. It wasn't pleasant, but it ran its course within 24 hours and I was fine (as was the baby). I would call the MW as it will reassure you, but you will most likely be told not to come in as they wouldn't want to risk spreading a bug if it wasn't food poisoning.

I have had episodes of vomiting which weren't good poisoning but my digestion couldn't "handle" rich fatty food. Once the offending delicious cheesy meaty item was out it stopped. No runs.
Call the doc or mw, sure they can reassure you.

The really dangerous things are properly rare: in the UK its like 20 cases a year out of the whole population!

In my experience with food poisoning you won't stop vomiting, it might be that the richness just didn't agree with you - I've had that once or twice before pre-pregnancy. If you're worried call MW, otherwise drink lots of fluids, and eat some dry plain toast

Hope you feel better!
