Belly bar's

I'm 20 + 1 and my bumps coming along nicely :) My Belly bar was starting to hurt a little when it caught on things when I wouldn't normally notice.

So I got a flexible bar and trimmed it so it wasn't too long. The top of the piercing is still red and now with this bar I can see that it's looking really stretched. My piercing wasn't very deep once heeled so it looks very a thin bit of skin now it's stretched.

Should I just give up and take it out? I thought if I used maternity bars it might last the whole pregnancy, but I can't see how now!

How long did you leave yours in? Should I just take it out?

I took mine out at about 30 weeks but was able to put the bar back through once DD was born.

I know people who've kept them in the whole way through, just do whatever you're most comfortable with.

I took mine out at 18wks and my hole is still there :) i was having similar problems, i was messing around one day and my mum asked if it was still open so i found a cocktail stick to see and it is :) im 36+3 now. So glad as im. It gonna have to get it redone x

I took mine out right at the start of my pg and didn't use a maternity bar at all, DC is now 9mo and I still haven't put a bar back in but the hole remains, you might be ok/better off taking it out all together.

I don't think mine will stick as it's always been quick to make it difficult when I've taken it out before. But maybe the stretching will keep it open if I pop something down it once a day. Thanks guys x

I was wondering the same thing! Good to know!

I'm 31 weeks and mines still in, it's not painful and there's still loads if room for the bar to move (I've been blessed with a really neat bump!)
I'm planning on leaving it in as long as I can, it feels the only part of me that's still the same as before pregnancy, that sounds really stupid when said out loud/written down! Hmm

I know what you mean LJHH I love my belly piercing! it just looks all thin like it will snap in a months time :/

:(

I guess it's not like I'll have the belly to show it off any time soon after birth!

Maybe if it's looking a bit stretched it might be time to let it go? (I'm sad for you :( )
Do the holes close up? I was never sure about that....

When I had mine pierced, the man commented that I had "thick skin" and struggled to get the bloody needle in, I was horrified at the time but I'm grateful for my "thick skin" now Wink

CatFaceCrayola · 22/06/2014 13:31

I've let mine go (had 2) and my nipple piercing too. Took them all out at about 9 weeks. Figure I can always re pierce after I'm done being pregnant

I took mine out at 20 weeks when I had my scan. I got a stretch mark on the bit of skin between the holes. I can't remember when I put it back in but I have it back in now. Just be careful as if yours isn't very deep (like mine is) and its already feeling quite stretched, if you leave it in catching in on things may cause it to get a stretch mark through it.
