Requesting an early scan - will they say no?

Hi everyone. After a loss earlier this year I am thrilled to be pregnant again. Because of problems in my last pregnancy I'm booked in for chromosome testing in 5 weeks. However before then I would like a scan, just for some reassurance as I am terrified. I'm going to see my GP on tuesday and was going to ask her to refer me. We're paying a lot of money for harmony testing so can't really afford an early private scan. Will they scan me just because I want some reassurance and because we're having specialist testing or are they likely to refuse? Not sure if they'll only scan you if you're bleeding or in lots of pain or other symptoms.

I doubt it but you might have a more sympathetic system where you live. Good luck. :)

Where I live a reassurance scan at 8 ish weeks is automatic after a miscarriage. I appreciate that I may be lucky.
Best wishes for an un eventful pregnancy.

Your best bet is to look up your local early pregnancy unit and give them a call. The one near us certainly allows you to self-refer for a reassurance scan at 8wks.
