31+6 weeks. DC2. Really in pain with period like pains. Coming in waves. Can't stand up or sit comfortably.

This is 3rd episode of this. Midwife says just take some painkillers and lie down. Is this normal? I didn't have this with DD at all.

2nd child so you know what labour feels like. Are you in labour?

stargirl1701 · 20/06/2014 18:20

I don't think so. Baby is moving normally. It is 3rd time it's happened in last 3 weeks. It did go way both times previously after 30 minutes or so. Body getting ready for labour? It seems so early if so. Is it normal with subsequent pgs?

Bloody painful.

I would insist on being checked out properly. Go to a and e if necessary. It's prob nothing but could be anything from UTI to braxton hicks to prem labour or placental issues. The only Time I had anything similar with DC2 I was in labour. Just sayin.

I was in hospital yesterday for 3 hours (entirely unrelated). Everything was fine. BP, urine, pulse, heartbeat, etc. Baby measuring correct size for dates.

It is passing now/painkillers kicking in. Is it Braxton Hicks? I thought that was just the tightenings you get now and then. The pain is quite significant.

Hi I had very strong bh felt like labour from about 28 weeks but I would call the MAU just to be safe.

I've had a couple of episodes which sound similar and was worried so contacted my local assessment unit (I'm 27+4). The two likely culprits for me were a urine infection or early labour. They did a swab to see if I'm at risk of early labour which came out as positive so ive been admitted and am having 2 steroid injections just in case.
There may be nothing to worry about but just wanted to let you know that the same symptom was taken very seriously where I am and I have no complicating factors and already had 2 babies at term so a good history of 'normal' .
I would push to get the pain checked out.

Lots of swabs and samples taken yesterday. I have phoned. Advice is to phone again if it doesn't settle.
