Read the bit on the pregnancy test advice... it usually says that if you test positive (even if you test negative straight after) it usually means you are pregnant. The HGC hormone wouldn't be there otherwise

nikie1 · 06/09/2006 19:39

ive been told that it could mean im gonna lose it !!!!!!!!!

Seona1973 · 06/09/2006 19:48

it could be a false negative, but could also mean the hormone levels are dropping and you have lost the baby. How late was your period and are you using the same brand/type of test? If you have no cramps/bleeding I would try another test in a few days time. Good luck!!

nikie1 · 06/09/2006 20:09

was it a cheap test the second one?

nikie1 · 06/09/2006 20:13

no the first one was a tesco own and the secound one was a first responce the first one was the cheapest xx

I got neg on 1st response while tesco gave me decent line when I took the FR test apart, I could see a faint line, but was not sure if it was just an evaporation line
Did you use first morning urine?

Cailyn3 · 06/09/2006 20:21

Do another tesco one first thing in the morning, I've always found them to be the best for me (all the others gave me false negatives!) You don't get many signs this early on apart from slightly stronger "about to start a period" signs. Here's hoping everything works out for you!

nikie1 · 06/09/2006 20:32

i done the test at about 4pm on sunday and it was a faint pos so thats why i done one this afternoon thinking it would be stronger only to find it was neg x

nikie1 · 06/09/2006 20:33

i will buy a tesco one thanks you have made me feel better xx

Another tip - always use the first morning's wee, its always a stronger result because more HGC hormone has built up overnight. Fingers crossed for you!

shhhh · 06/09/2006 21:40

Our dd was a honeymoon baby so I know how nice it can be knowing when baby was made..Good luck and hope you get the results you want. BTW we have used tesco's own on previous pregnancies and they have always been reliable.

I have just read this thread and it is very similar to my own experience. I had a "bleed" around 24th July after having nothing at all since DS was born in March 05. I had stoppped taking the pill as I wanted to get preg. Mid August I started to feel very queasy/tired etc, very similar to how I felt when expecting DS. I did a Tesco preg test as always found them reliable and it came back negative, I continued to feel awful and about a week later I took another Tesco test which was a very definate positive. I went to GP and he confirmed that in his opinion I was pregnant. 4 days later I had severe ab. pain and I went to see out of hours GP who sent me to hospital. The duty Gynaecologist did a pregnancy test which came back negative so she told me I wasn't pregnant although I had probably conceived and lost it very early on. I explained to her that I hadn't had any bleeding and she advised that it would happen & to go home, have a hot bath and take some paracetomol. Now, 2 weeks on, I still haven't had any bleeding and a preg test I did yesterday said negative. I am very confused as to what is happening and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I have appt. to see GP on Thursday and I have cancelled MW appt for Tuesday as didn't see the point if not pregnant but I can't help thinking what if I am as I still do not feel right.

cece · 17/09/2006 14:12

I would ask your Gp or mw for a scan at the EPU.

mrsmastiffs · 20/09/2006 17:22

Hi, just to let you all know I have finally managed to get appt with GP for tomorrow (so much for being able to get appt. within 24 hours) and epu have provisionally booked me a scanning appt for Friday ( they can't do any earlier either)

Nothing has changed with me, still no bleeding and nausea is returning so fingers crossed I will get some good news. It is now nearly 2 months since my last "bleed". If not, hopefully Dr will get me sorted out asap.

shhhh · 20/09/2006 17:28

fingers crossed for you. xx

mrsmastiffs · 21/09/2006 14:24

Well, i've just got back from Dr's and she is sending me for a scan asap - just to be sure. She said if womb clear and still no af then I will have to accept that my hormones are all over the show and that I will have to wait however long it takes for them to settle down. She said that there is very little she can do to make this happen sooner rather than later. She was ever so sweet bless her, it really makes a difference seeing a woman Dr at times like these.

On another note, you do have to wonder sometimes (or I do anyway) why you want another baby. As much as I love my DS he is being an absolute little bugger today

Sakhmet24 · 08/10/2006 10:30

nikie1. If you find whats happening to you let me know. I tested positive 2 days ago and have had negative ever since. Its eating my insides out.

nikie1 · 08/10/2006 16:49

Just found this site and it is a lovely comfort to know you are not going mad or on your own! Been trying for baby since July, had bleeding at normal period time since Saturday. But I thought something felt different so did a Clearblue digital test yesterday morning. It had a pregnant result (I had to take a photo on my mobile to remind myself I didn't imagine it). But was still bleeding (dark brown/purpley, no pain at all). Did another (Clearble digital but the newer one where the result stays 24hrs) yesterday evening which said negative. Worried worried worried. Today bleeding is MUCH less which is good but am scared to do another test now! Advice would be appreciated. Ali
