Just found out I'm pregnant at the weekend, early days though as only missed AF on Friday.
I'm a bit overweight at the minute, not massively (5'8 size 14-16). For my wedding last year I lost 2.5 stone, with Xmas followed by some work stress in the new year I've out about 1.5 of that back on, following by an indulgent holiday a couple of weeks ago I'm feeling a bit gross.
I didn't expect to get pregnant right away and had sort of stopped trying before we'd even started but turns out I was already pregnant.
So I thought Id spend the next month or so losing a bit of weight then baby time.
Ive been to the gym regularly these past few months, though not super fit I enjoy spin, Pilates, etc.
we have just told both sets of parents so far, but both DM, MIL and DH were horrified when I said I was going to spin this week. Normally they aren't that precious about these things, so do you think I'm being reckless?
When I went in Saturday (before I knew) I did feel a little off but put that down to not going for 2 weeks.

Also, I'm worried that the midwife etc will make a big deal of my weight as my BMI is 31 at the min.
My own GP assured me previously that although I read heavy on the scales he isn't concerned as I don't have high fat %, exercise, eat well.

Anything sweet is turning my stomach at the min anyway (even fruit) and I am on a healthy eating mission, not dieting but slimming world type/non processed meat and veg salad type meals. Still eating enough calories, so don't flame me for undereatingWink

That's the thing I think it will be inconsistent advice from the doc- my own gp has said over the years that I am healthy (low cholesterol, HR, BP, blood sugar etc) and not to get too hung up on bmi etc, but I've seen a locum who told me I was dangerously overweight and blamed it for unrelated ailments (I'm honestly not, just need to lose a bit). Admittedly I'm the heaviest I've been for a while which doesn't make me feel great Hmm

I am basically 'eating clean' (again I must add in not doing anything faddy) by eating lean meat/fish, plenty of veg and a bit of fruit and minimising white carbs, having brown rice, sweet potatoes and quinoa instead. Don't think there should be any pregnancy issues with that as not really dieting.

The weather is great here at the minute so lots of walks and haven't been back to the gym yet, my appetite is reduced anyway and I've been sticking to the healthy eating and I'm a few lbs lighter already. Though I was on an all inclusive holiday 2 weeks ago so I am probably de bloating etc.

I lost quite a bit before I got pg (20 kgish) but it still put me in the overweight category. So I was a bit upset when the second doc gave me a lecture. Having said that she said my blood sugar was high, although Google disagrees and she gave me a panic about gd risk but I'd spiked my blood sugar with sweets and full sugar coke, so unlike me to calm my nausea now I can tolerate diet drinks again and am off the sweets I'm hoping it's all ok.you are very lucky not to have the sweet cravings! I think the old wives tale might be true I am having a girl!

In my case I had other concerns as that same doctor couldn't read my 20 week scan properly and the previous doctor hadn't filled in any of my notes so I got a private scan at 22 weeks and asked that doctor about my weight, baby's size and gd risk. She just said I was fine to carry on doing what I was doing and that there was no cause for concern as the baby was measuring 1 day behind and a gd bloated baby would have shown up as large and my measurements ahead.

Too hot for me to do much it was 37 degrees here today!

Your diet sounds great I really don't think you've anything to worry about.
