This article in the Independent says "Thousands of women swear by the latest incarnation of the phenomenon: having your placenta encapsulated into easy-to-pop pills that are said to provide an energy boost, restore iron levels, and help breast-milk production.

But a shock ruling last week has put the centuries-old tradition under threat, after the European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) stepped in to classify placenta as a "novel food". "

There's a petition against the ban here.

I take these but I use the Raw encapsulation method. I took them during all 4 pregnancies and I'm still taking them from my last pregnancy although I only have a few weeks left before I run out.

The goverment are scared of everything these days.

It seems crazy to me. I think it's just part of the misplaced ickiness about placentas and other woman stuff.
