Feeling a bit sorry for myself (tmi warning)

Sorry this is so long. I'm 28wks pregnant. Last friday I visited the GP with what I thought was thrush but I've never had it before so wanted checked out (itching and yellow discharge). After a urine dip she found a urine infection so I got a 7 day course of amoxicilan for that and canasten cream. I finished the antibiotics yesterday but didn't do the thrush cream after the first three times because is stung/burnt like hell (is that normal?).

Over a week later and I'm feeling worse!! The itching down below has been awful (discharge has gone thank god!) and I'm never off the loo, although only go a tiny bit each time. I've had pains in my lower belly/bump and started feeling nauseous this afternoon.

The doctor called back to say I also have a group B strep infection which has stressed me out.

To top it off I have three painful piles the size of very large grapes. I have prescription cream for them too which is doing nothing and they are so swollen and sore I'm in bed with an ice pack between my bum cheeks.

I realise things could be worse and this is just a combination of minor ailments but I feel so crap and in tears with the thought of going to work tomorrow. I have mw appointment on wed so will mention everything then.

Yes, things could be worse, but that doesn't mean you don't feel rubbish or shouldn't feel sorry for yourself. Don't go to work tomorrow. Just don't do it, you don't have to, you must look after yourself. In years to come you'll never even remember that you needed to take time off. Do it!!!

Go back to the doctor (cry if possible as i find if helps!) and tell then how much you're struggling. In fact, get signed off work for a week.

Piles are quite literally a PITA. I would also see the pharmacy for something... I have a bit (not as sore as yours) and tesco pharmacy gave me cream I could use when pregnant.

Go back to the Dr. Go through all the aches and pains. Sure they'll help! Just because most women get them doesn't mean they don't hurt and you have to live with it!

Wagamamma, you poor thing.

I am by no means an expert, but do suffer with regular UTIs, particularly when pregnant, and to me it sounds as though your UTI has never properly cleared. Please go back to your GP for more antibiotics as an untreated UTI can make you feel awful.

The problem is, more antibiotics won't help the thrush. Ask your GP to prescribe you a pessary as well as the cream (the pharmacists will refuse to sell you one without prescription).

I think I will probably take tomorrow off work and get another gp appointment. I just feel guilty taking time off for such minor ailments. And with a 4yr old at home I wont get to just lounge in front of the tv (although dp will be taking care of him).

The constant bathroom trips (4+ an hour) and the painful piles are really getting me down today.

I've got awful piles so I put germaloids cream on them, it's the only stuff that helps with the pain.

Are you drinking enough? I often get urine infections if I haven't drunk enough especially in this hot weather.

Sounds like you're really suffering, poor thing. Glad you are staying off work tomorrow. Sounds like you definitely need to take care of yourself (which in turn is looking after baby) and see GP again. Hope you get some relief soon X

Don't feel guilty about having some time off. You sound awfully uncomfortable. I hope it all gets sorted out soon. I second popcorn, drink lots of water!

That's a tough situation to be in. Being pregnant is hard enough without other ailments - that too a combination of many painful ones. I hope your GP is sympathetic & gives you the best help possible. Get well soon!

Oh bless you things can only get better! I know how you feel... I get huge cysts that flare up and they're so painfully along with constipation and piles it's an awful combination (thankfully mine was all last week) just try and stay comfortable and remember it won't last forever! Xx

If you have a UTI, before you get to the GP I was given an old wives cure. A mug of black coffee (could use decaf), a glass of orange juice with a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda stirred in plus a pint of water, repeat every hour. The volume of liquid flushes it out.

Thanks all. I'm feeling a bit better yesterday after a day of rest. I managed to see the doc again too.

He was reluctant to give me another antib for the uti as they are 'running out of options' with what they can give me but I did get a pessary for thrush. I just need to keep applying cream for the piles and go back after I've given birth (goodness knows what state they'll be in then).
