was my test positive?!

I know this sounds a bit daft but I did a pg test last night, fairly early in my extremely irregular cycle (if you can call it a cycle) and it came out with the control line and a very faint second line - really faint but definitely there. Then I did one this morning as that one wasn't very convincing and the one this am (with an x for pg) looked pretty much negative - a sort of shadow instead of a line. What's going on?! Can you get false positives or only false negatives?

Sounds positive to me, if you had a line there and did it in the right time (false positives can occur after time), and then a different type had a shadow, then it prob has picked up the hormone. A negative doesn't have a shadow, just nothing there. I did mine very early and there was only shadow of a line but did one each day until eventually I was convinced! It might be best to wait a few days, but I know I couldn't

Not an expert but the same thing happened to me I ended up doing 9 pregnancy tests before I believed the result!! False positives are very rare(almost unheared of), much more likely you had a false negative, because it is so early maybe the second test was less sensitive or the hormone was more dilute. I recommend clear blue, I found it the easiest to get a clear result. Good luck I have a beautiful 5 month ds. Good Luck olatt x

oooh! I really hope so ... arrived in the right time, just faint. have done three since last night and dh is bringing home another packet!

I had this. Get Clearblue Digital - no mistaking with that one as it says the word!

im had a pregnacy test that had a slight colour change to it in certain lights couldnt see it at all dp couldnt when i showed him... did 2 more just to certain and yeah it was positive the colour did get stronger as the days passed after 10 pt test i think i was diff preg 8 moths later i had a 8lb10oz girl XXXX good luck

shadow could be an evaporation line
what brand of test was it? Some are worse than others

one was first response, one was, er, clear blue i think, with a cross rather than a line.

you need the digital as this shows the words

pregnant

or

not pregnant

on the screen - no doubt either way... but they are expensive so wait for some morning wee..

rather embarrassingly i couldn't get the digi one to work last time! think i'm the only person who manages to pee on a stick wrong ...

if the line has colour then you're +
The CB can be buggers I took mine out of the case to see my + and then panicked that it was wrong
But it wasn't

pee in a conatiner and then dip it in. Have never even tried to do it was it is in full flow Didn't realise people did!

I used FR on all of my pg and had faint neg in the evening used it again in the mornng (use first wee) and got a very strong + so if you can hold out try to do FR in the morning

PS I coul neve get the digital ones to work so you are not the only one!!!

the clear blue PG test made me sad... as the word disapears after a while - and I kept having to do more to believe it...

It was positive! and so was the next one ... and the next one ... ! very exciting! thanks everyone. although not pleasant dealing with lovely 16 month old with tummy bug - projectile vomit while suffering waves of nausea? nice ...
