At my first midwife appt at the end she was like I'll get you sent for your first scan and then on your next appt with me we will listen to the heart beat.( when I am 16 weeks)
It sounded good at the time, but now that it's only just over two weeks away I'm starting to get scared Stiff!! Of corse the ' what if she can't find a heart beat' is never off my mind, I've stupidly googled and read some heart breaking stories why do I do that to myself ?! I am almost 14 weeks and
I've had two scans so far, both fine , my symptoms are quite strong and I don't really have any valid reason to be worried other than just to worry.
My uterus is or was tipped back in first scan could this affect her finding the heart beat due to position ? Baby is quite low could this affect it? I'm worried... And of corse fearing the worst.

I think we all go through this major freak out. im 12+2 and my current freak out is thay next week at my 12 wee scan there will be no baby just fat.

I still have exhaustion but all my symptoms are settling down now. I camt sleep on my tummy despite my pregnancy still being in my pelvis. I have no idea at all if thats normal.

relax and breathe. you cannot change what will be.

I'm feeling exactly the same! My partner wants to start buying things to spread the cost but I'm terrified something will be wrong at the twenty week scan that feels like a million miles away!

Same worries here too!
Im 10.5 weeks, first m/w app won't be until I am 15 weeks, but I am being told I will have a scan booked before then (I sure hope so!!)
Worried that they will say I have made a mistake - the 3 positive PG tests, massive boobs, and lack of periods is down to something else - that would be awkward!! lol

RAFWife12 · 12/06/2014 15:02

Its perfectly normal to worry! We all do, but please try not to.
My midwife actually didnt check for heart rate till my 25 week appointment. If they don't find it, I would hope they would send you for a scan.

It varies. My MW made the comment that even midwives quite regularly can't find the HB at 16 weeks, due to the position of the baby etc. at that stage, and that its not a reason to worry.

Scoob, you should have your 12 week scan before then. If you haven't heard by the end of the week, try chasing up your MW to see if the referral definitely went through.

aley, try not to stress. If your scans have been fine and you have had no dire pains, it's unlikely that things have gone downhill since your last scan. Don't forget they will take bloods at 16 weeks too, so even if they don't find the HB because baby is hiding, they can check your hormone levels etc. to make sure everything is in the healthy range Smile

They checked mine at 16 weeks but warned me that it was difficult to find and not to worry if they can't. Some midwives won't do it at this stage as it's too much of a worry if nothing is heard. I didn't have bloods done at 16 weeks unlike the previous poster, just at booking and at 28 weeks.
